I just updated the 2025 version. I imported the .srt file and found that the panel for adjusting subtitles in Previous Essential Graphic disappeared. I couldn’t find any settings to change the subtitle font, color, and size in the New " Graphic Template " Panel .
Does anyone know where to find it?

Experienced this problem now. Turns out all I needed to do was restart premiere after generating the captions

Same. The issue/bug is still topical in late November.

Hi. Yes, I keep having the same issue. It's the properties panel we need. Windows > Properties – while a caption block is selected in the sequence. It would be nice if this panel also appeared when in the Captions editing workspace.

Double click on your subtitle when you are in the subtitle workspace - window- workspace- captions and subtitles - and then as normsl on your rack double click on a subtitle. Then you will see all the normal edit options will come up.

Yeah this doesn't work, the "normal edits" are not coming up. Why are there always problems with Adobe and captions, it's a perennial issue around the most basic of features. I don't need AI I just want a product that works!

I watched your video. I still can't get the caption editing panel -- that was available in all previous verions of Premiere -- to show up in 2025. The Properties tab is visible in the new "Text Based Editing" workspace but the space is blank. No properties are actually listed -- so there is no way to change the settings. The caption text editing panel is not under "Captions and Graphics" (where it used to be). I upgraded from 2024 this morining because the captions were glitching. This is worse.

If the Properties Panel is blank select your caption in the timeline first.

So went on to do a rush job for a client, captions crashing Premier, to upgrade to 25 and they've moved the edit subtitles from Essential Graphics and it's no where to be found? WHY DO THEY DO STUFF LIKE THIS.

Yep. It's definitely a bug. I was struggling for a good 30 minutes before I figured out to shut it down and turn it back on and then the properties appeared. This definitely needs to be fixed asap.

I finally found Properties as a separate windon, under the Windows tab. Yes, why does Adobe have to move stuff around with every version. Such a waste of productivity.

I have all my subtitles selected and still nothing appears in the properties panel, how can I make it work?

incredible. they destroyed what is the most valuable aspect of Premiere Pro for a lot of content creators for absolutely no reason. I have the option to change caption properties, but it's like the Fischer Price version. I can pretty much only change the color and font, nothing else. Disgusting move by this company.

My way of solving it was copy/pasting a subtitle from an older project into the new one. Then I saved and closed the project. When opening it again, the other subtitles were now able to be changed up.

EASY.
1. Select your captions in the timeline.
2. Go to the menu bar at the top of the Premiere Pro browser and click on Window
3. Select Properties from the dropdown menu
DONE

Hello, my editor friend, I'll bring you the solution! I was also facing the same problem. I speak Portuguese, so I will translate step by step.
The issue arises because the new properties panel changes based on your selection. You likely can't edit text size or settings like outline and shadow because the wrong subtitle format was selected.
HOW TO FIX
First step: In the timeline, right-click on the name of the subtitle format, which is to the right of the eye where we change the track view.
Second step: Click on track settings
Third step: Change to "subtitle" format
And that's it, click on your caption and edit as normal!
Note: Any other format like Australian OP-47, CEA-608 or 708, EBU subtitle or teletext you will have the same problem!

New properties panel is fine but this should not be marked as solved. Even after finding it, subtitles were not able to be edited until I closed and re-opened Premeire. Frustrating.

Hello guys, I think I might have cracked the code here. I tried over and over again to understand why the normal caption settings arent appearing. First of all, you need to add the "Properties" window to the premiere and if that still doesn't work then you might have added the captions wrong. So when adding them select the "subtitle" option and that should bring all of your previous caption settings and you can change them. Happy editing!
