Constantly Crashing

I'm working on a very significant project that I've been working on for about 6 months. I've built a new computer with all the latest greatest and still constant problems. Today though it's relentlessly crashing. This is just stupid and couldn't be any worse.

Alrighty, I think I "may" have figured it out. There is a nested sequence that was warp stabilized and then nested into the main sequence. It was also "scaled to frame size" in the main sequence. Then that sequence was nested into a new sequence for the one minute version. Whenever I would scrub to the timeline to that point that's where it would crash. I didn't notice because I never saw it get to that point.

None of suggestions in "how to ask for help" ever works. Adobe just sucks. It's only getting worse by the day. I've reported thoroughly as can be and all I get are the same old guesses. Anyone doing serious work like serious documentaries and other long form projects should stay away from this garbage. I've lost so many hours trying to work this out, built a newer computer and it only gets worse. I've been producing video for over 15 years and this last half a year has been horrible. Sure, I may be wasting time right now saying all this, or I could be very thorough like I have here for example Warning, error, frame substitution???  and get nowhere, well, actually it's worse, now it just crashes with no warnings. I'm editing, it crashes, adobe does nothing. I posted this 3 hours ago. I also started their support chat at that time. I just finished with them. I watched as they did things that didn't even make sense and none of them worked. They cleared cache (I already did this), they reinstalled different drivers (I've already done this), they tried software instead of GPU CUDA and rendered the whole timeline (why I don't know, that took an hour, super stupid). So, more time lost, so, yeah, I can tell you about my hardware, which means nothing because it's not like that's going to help, but here it is:

I9 9900K

64 GB RAM 3600 Mhz

SSD's and M.2 NVME's

2080 Ti

I'm editing and it crashes, specifically it happens when I'm scrubbing the timeline. Maybe if their so called software developers/engineers actually tested on real world projects people in the real world would not get sucked into their trash only to be trapped trying to finish projects so we can get away and into something more solid, potentially DaVinci Resolve?

Try resetting the preferences:

FAQ: How to reset preferences in Premiere Pro?

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:

Reset a workspace

Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
    • Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

from here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn’t work ,try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.

There aren't any suggestions in there, only a guide on what information to post that we might need so we can help.  You haven't provided any details for us to work with.

It crashes, it's not suppose to. I'm tired of wasting time. Like I said, I've done everything in "how to ask for help" and it never works. Adobe continues to suck.

Specifically this time, I just finished a huge documentary. I'm nesting the entire sequence into another, new sequence. This way I can chop it down into a one minute version. At first everything was fine. Then it got to a point where now when I scrub the timeline indicator to look through the timeline it crashes.

Tech support tried rolling back drivers, man, that never works, didn't work in the Warning, error, frame substitution???  issues here either. So time consuming all these stereotypical ideas that accomplish nothing. They switch to software instead of GPU CUDA and rendered the whole thing, which took an hour. That may have helped, but WHAT'S THE POINT OF HAVING A $1400 VIDEO CARD THEN if I have to edit like I did 15 years ago rendering everything constant just to muscle through.

Anyways, I'm so worn out and depressed by this adobe mess. This is my livelihood and I've given it my all only to be neglected by adobe trash traps.

What made me think it was this is scaling this nested sequence to frame size now (it never did this before, must be the most recent premiere update) causes the video to look insane.

To fix this I just removed the scale to frame size from the nested sequence and manually scaled the nested sequence. Now when I scrub to that spot it appears to be fine. I just finished doing over an hour of editing and no problems. Freaking Adobe updates...

So, now I have to undo all that crap the crappy adobe support did. That guy was driving me nuts. He was trying to install the wrong drivers, claiming Ti stands for notebook. I'm like, dude, this 2080 Ti is bigger than an entire laptop, this is not a notebook. He tried, first time wouldn't install, he downloads the same driver, I'm like "that's the same driver" he's like "let me do my job" and it doesn't install. Then he installs the Game Ready Driver and that installs of course but it's not the best driver for creators, they have a Creator Ready Driver. This was after he spent an hour rendering my timeline for no apparent reason. Nothing he did worked, still crash after crash.

So, it seems I fixed it... Part of me didn't want to share the fix so others can experience my pain, you know, misery loves company, then Adobe would have to hear how bad they suck from more people. Don't ever work on a long running project with adobe premiere, this is just one of many nightmare problems causing me to lose countless hours. Such trash, if they would just test before they release and not make us their beta testers.
