CS6: The serial number you entered has been revoked

Hello Adobe & Adobe Forum,

I have been using you Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 for just over two years now.  I purchased it from a reputable company at the time called Royal Tech Savers.  I only recently just did a few upgrades and then had to login to Creative Cloud for some reason and this has caused me a big headache.Now when I log in to Premiere Pro CS6 it says that it is a trial version and when I entered the Serial Number it says it has been revoked.  I paid £239.19 for this Software at the time and my reason for purchasing CS6 outright is because I don't want to move to the monthly subscription fees that Creative Cloud has.

I noticed someone else had an issue with this company mentioned in the thread "The serial number you have entered has been revoked. This product cannot be licensed. Please contact Customer Support."  I am totally shocked if this is the case.  I have tried to chat to someone in your live chat forum but as soon as I got through it cut out like they were answering and deliberately then ending the conversation.

I registered with Adobe on 05/05/2015 around the same time I got the software so there should be some kind of record of my purchase.  I hope you can fully shed light on this situation and I would like to have full access (not trialled) to Adobe CS6 as it was before as soon as possible, please.

If you have a CC subcription download CS6 from the cloud instead of the disk.

If you dont have a subcription then the only way to fix this is a clean install of all Adobe software.

Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Its a known issue for CC trial to kill of CS6 activation.

Jim - Customer Support lead me here and when I tried the live chat the werre just dismissing this issue.  Other people have used this forum to report problems so I don't see a problem with me starting this discussion here.

Ann - I don't subscribe to any CC programmes and I just recently downloaded it by mistake today - I didn't want any of it - and that is what started all these problems. But surely if I riped my computer of all Adobe software and then downloaded CS6 again it would still say my serial number has been revoked and I would be back to square one?  Where also would I download CS6 if the company I purchased from has changed names etc.?

As I said to Stan, surely if the Serial Number had be Revoked it still won't work?  Or are you saying if I wipe everything then download it from this link the serial number will work again?

At the time of purchase did you have to proof you were a student?

If it is legit and as said before: wipe everything clean. If you dont do that you will never get it fixed.

Yes of course.  I remember I even hurried to purchase it before I stopped being a student - I even think that's why they came up as they were like the Premier company to go for a student discount. 

The transaction took place through a company called Moneybookers now called Skrill.  I phoned Skrill up and they still had a record of the transaction and that's how I found out I paid with a Credit Card.  Skrill also told me the business is still in operation but under the different name of techsaversoutlet.com.  Check them out - they still seem legit but who knows.


I'm following on those instructions of deleting everything and re-downloading.  Let's see where that gets me.

Still wish Adobe would add there imput on the this as the whole thing is quite particular.  If Royal Tech Discount did become Tech Savers Outlet they should be repremanding them as they still sell Adobe products.

I even downloaded the product directly from Adobe's website so they would have a record of this and me registering it via the serial number.

This is what they said to me:

Hello,

Please be advised that the key and license you purchased and installed is NOT pirated, otherwise you would not have been able to activate, and the software you installed was downloaded directly from Adobe's website.

We will try and help our clients with this issue together with Adobe, however it is an Adobe issue as it seems that they are basically revoking or expiring all types of licenses (the license could not be pirated as the license would have to be valid in order for Adobe to revoke or expire it).

Adobe call center staffs/online-chat staff seems to either have been instructed to say the license is revoked or don't know any better and so they say that any revoked license is pirated. This is the easiest way to get rid of complaining clients, and throws the problem back to the client and reseller; and in turn it seems like this is their way of forcing the client to go with the Cloud version they now offer.

We do not sell pirated products, and this is obviously an Adobe issue that seems to run rampant, it seems adobe is forcing persons with CS6 products installed to upgrade to the Cloud version, please see below the URL's and the forums below:

First off, marc. I hope this company can fix it for you.

As for the assertion that the software would have been rejected at activation if it was not genuine, No, not true. The delay in revoking a license means it is activated in good faith until they know otherwise.

As Adobe turns off activation servers, they provide a non-activation replacement. CS3 is the latest. Not the practice you would expect if they wanted to "force you into the cloud." So if your license was revoked, there was just cause.

Invalid and revoked serial numbers are serial numbers that have been blocked by Adobe because they have been obtained or generated illegally by unauthorized resellers. When Adobe discovers this fraudulent behavior, these keys are deactivated to prevent further abuse. Customers may only realize that the serial numbers have been blocked when they attempt to install or re-install the software.

Why did my serial number or software work for installation before and not now?

Software, even non-genuine software, can work normally until Adobe identifies, blocks or deactivates the fraudulent serial number as part of a legal action taken against the seller. Once the serial number is blocked, future attempts to install or reinstall will fail.

It's interesting though that the links they provided me speak about

students having their serial numbers deactivated and I was a student when I

purchased this.

I've told the company if they are under a legal obligations to honour my

purchase agreement with them and give me a replacement. If what they are

saying is true they can take legal action with Adobe.

This is the classic line used by pirates and those improperly selling licences.

Seems like they were bloody pirates.  Reported them to Action Fraud which is like the Police for that sort of thing in the UK and also taken the matter up with my Credit Card company.  Grabbed the last copy of CS6 Premiere Pro from King of Software who is a registered and authorised reseller.  I checked on Adobe's site.  A lot more money but worth it.

Especially when they say to turn off the registration request and it is already registered by them.  Sounds like a load of nonsense.  Fooled me once.  Not gonna fool me twice.

As  for students licenses being revoked, there was such a thing, but the circumstances were different. A local arts college contracted with Adobe to provide CS6 as part of the tuition. The catch was that the licenses were not permanent, but only for the time of enrollment.

Completely legal, but those who assumed the licenses were permanent were blindsided and out of luck.

My license for Adobe CS6 suddenly expired

Login to your Adobe account and confirm that you have CS6 registered there. I believe that Ann's recommendation is the best way for you to get it working again.

Hi Stan,


Thank you for your message.  I registered the product two years ago and have a "Welcome to Adobe" email dated exactly the same day I downloaded and purchased the software then registered it - I recall seeing it there and subsequently never went on this site again until today.  However, even though my details are still on Adobe's system when I log on now and check registered products its not there and when I enter the serial number I get told it's invalid. 

Why did Adobe never contact me if it was invalid this is all very strange.

You definitely got a "too good to be true" offer. The retail on PP CS6 is $800 USD/600 UKP at the time. 239 UKP would not be what Adobe sells it for, no matter what the story you were told.

At that low price they are either selling bogus serial numbers or unauthorized volume licenses. You have no recourse if RTS won't make good. Adobe found out later and blacklisted the serial number although they did not immediately deactivate your product. When it came time to reactivate, then you found out.

We do not handle activations. You were sent here because they do not want to go back and forth on this. The serial have been revoked and that's it.

Hi gener7,

Well to be precise it was a Student Discounted Offer and I had prove that I was a student and everything at the time. It was all very official. I investigated as well and the organisation back then seemed reputable.  I don't understand how Adobe allowed me to register the product and acknowledge it back then with my email address and then revoked my licence.  I think that's crafty on Adobe's side.

Luckily, I paid with a Credit Card at the time, so it it was too good to be true I will be taking this matter up with the credit card company.
