Exporting 5.1 possible without additional plugins?

Hello,

need to export a 5.1 6 channel spot for cinema dolby surround.

I did find older threads to that problem indicating that i need to buy a dolby plugin.

I did import a 5.1 audio in my film and simply would love to export it  in
.wav (with my complete video in it)

5.1

Is there any chance via premiere pro without adding plugins?

You can export a 5.1 ProRes file but not Dolby Digital without a plug-in.

Well... no....
I have only Mono and 2 Channels/Stereo?

How could I change that?

Make sure you have a

udio on all 6 channels. I found even if you have a 5.1 sequence the QuickTime exporter only saw it as stereo until I added all the audio.

The audio track in the sequence is indeed a 5.1.

BUT (you knew this one was coming, of course) - is the sequence itself set to a 5.1 master?

Also, do you have a 5.1 output set up on your sound card so the Adobe Audio mapper can access it?

Once you can hear what should be there in your studio monitors correctly, the ProRes will render correctly using PCM. This is infinitely preferable to Dolby Digital AC3 and should be the standard deliverable form too, IIRC.

So first up, make sure your hardware is correctly set to a 5.1 system in Edit/Preferences/Audio (and Audio Hardware), then make sure your sequence is using a 5.1 master - otherwise (and this is what I suspect is occurring here) your 5.1 mix will downmix according to parameters you did not set up, and either

A - doing this badly, or

B - just sending front left/right & ignoring the rest.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and jump back in if necessary. Surround is great.
