Exporting media throws an "Unknown error exception" error dialog box

Some of our users experience an "Unknown error exception" at this line
app.project.activeSequence.exportAsMediaDirect(outputFile.fsName, presetFile.fsName, 1)

outputFile is correct as well as presetFile is correct.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?
