All I want to do it fade out the audio at the end of a video and export the file. Cannot seem to find anything on how to do that.

Use the "constant power" or "constant gain" audio filter from the effects menu. These behave like a simple cross dissolve but for audio. Apply it directly to the audio clip.

IMO, constant power seems to sound the best.
