Media Encoder won't queue

I'm running the latest build of Premiere CC. I can export sequences without issue but if I try to 'Queue' and send to Media Encoder, it won't show up. Basically, Media Encoder will launch automatically as it should be no job actually get's added...It just sits there. I've waited close to 30 minutes with no success. The behaivor is identical to whenever I just launch Encoder on it's own. Thoughts?

The AME team is investigating similar reports from other customers. While they have not yet nailed down the cause, the workaround they're recommending is to clear your AME preferences. The easiest way to do this is to hold Shift while launching AME.

Chiming in here... I'm having the same issue. CC-2014, Win 7 Ultimate, 48g Ram, i7 extreme, 11 TB of storage, GTX970. Not on every project yet, but the last 3 have froze when opening AME and then queuing my render. At first opening AME on its own and then doing the export media from PR worked, but today on my latest project it just freezes every time I try. CTRL when opening AME didn't help. Dragging my timeline from the PR bin into AME at least allowed me to render this job - side note; not sure if related but it appears with dragging timeline to AME its not using my GPU (even though selected to do so) CPU meter is pegging which is not normally the case when I use GPU acceleration.

holding down shift while the program opened worked for me. Not sure if it will stay that way but it's looking good for now

I just downloaded Premiere CC 2015.0.1 and it appears that after two years our prayers may have been answered. I was able to successfully queue two different sequences at two different times from Premiere to Media Encoder.

since yesterday, i have a similar problem. i am using premiere / ame for many years now. but since yesterday, when i click "export media" -> queue in premiere, ame opens, but no project appears in the queue. i still can open the projects directly in ame, but hey, thats very uncomfortable.

any ideas? i have tried all the tips above (unchecking antive import, holding shift while ame is starting).

i am on a mac 10.10.5 and using the newest cc version 2015.0.2

and again: it worked for years now!

thanks!

‌i know its not a solution but I was having the same issue and fixed it then it started happening again so now all I do is start the encoder first and then queue and it works!

O.K.  I have a new solution for this problem that worked for me.  The issue is with the path of the media cache and media cache file folders.  I knew it had to have something to do with dynamic link.  So, I decided to remap the paths to insure that they were able to share the files correctly.  I checked Media Encoder first.  It appeared to be correct.  I then checked Premiere Pro.  First the Media Cache Files folder path.  No Problem.  Then the Media Cache folder path.  AH HA!!  The path was identical but for some reason when I remapped it a "/" was added to the end of the path.  I don't know if this was a bug in Premiere Pro or was caused by an OS update ....but I don't care.  It's working now.  I hope this helps anyone else suffering with the same problem.

FYI this solution is for a Mac Pro running Yosemite version 10.10.5

A workaround for me was to simply drag and drop the composition from AE into ME. Not ideal, but works.

I found a pretty convenient work around, as I'm also having the same problem.

Instead of trying to "Queue" the sequence from Premiere Pro, simply open Media Encoder, and drag the sequence from the project window in Premiere Pro that you wish to export and drop it onto the Media Encoder application window.

OR

In Media Encoder, you can hit the '+' symbol in the top left corner, or File > Add source... or ⌘+i and find the Premiere Pro project you're working on, and open that. You'll then be prompted which sequence you'd like to import.

It's not the best solution, but it is a solution for now and will let you export multiple sequences at once.

Hope that helps!

I have the same problem above, for now just continue exporting it directly in premiere. I also noticed that I can not send the sequence from Premiere to After Effects. This might also be part of the glitch. This is weird. Thanks

Has Adobe figured out a solution to this yet, now that we're all freshly updated to CC 2016?  Holding down the shift key (which I've not yet tried) isn't really the best permanent solution...

has this issue been resolved yet?

I tried the "shift method", the drag and drop method, the usual queue method, but AME just doesn't take in my sequence from Premiere Pro CC. on win 10 x64 with latest versions of Premiere Pro CC and AME.

I'm on Premiere 9.0.2(6) Build (on Mac). The issue is not present and this version overall is very stable. I've given up on updating Adobe products because something always breaks. If you can, I'd suggest rolling back to this version and see if that helps.

Hey curiouscat95, i think your problem is slightly different to this topic. Have you tried going into the AME preferences and unticking 'import sequences natively'?

Have just started having this problem with AME 9.2.0.2.6. Premiere 9.2.0.

I can drag into the queue and open via AME, but hitting queue from prem doesnt load it into AME.

Have tried holding shift to reset preferences upon launch. Have also tried reinstaing Premiere and AME to no avail

I've filed bug report. I encourage others to do the same: Feature Request/Bug Report Form

This worked for me after a lotta frustration.

I went Window > Workspaces > Reset "Default Workspace"…

Bam, there was the queue with all the sequences I had tried and failed to load up. : )

well my Queue window was there okay, it was blank and I couldn't find a way to add anything to it.

I kept coming back trying different things every day, giving up every day.

So Window >Workspaces > Reset "Default Workspace"… worked for us. yay!

Damn...as soon as I "upgraded" to PremierePro 2015.3 and Media Encoder 2015.3, ALL functionality in Media Encoder STOPPED.

Well...I CAN add files to the Queue, but after that NADA.  Can't open the Pref's or Save the Queue!  When I try to start the Queue, it simply sits there.  I have a 2-hour concert I'm trying to get finished, as we have another shoot TONITE!

I've tried most of the suggested fixes...Shift @ startup for AME, un-install & re-install...same old stuff.

The software DOES work on my laptop however, but I don't have all the plug-ins available on that machine to do 3D, which is my big thing these days.

Mac OSX 10.9.5 (Maverics) on both machines, and the latest CC apps installed...

I SIMPLY DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!!

Hi GKubera,

I would look at 2 things.

  1. NVIDIA drivers could possibly be too new.
  2. OS X may need to be updated to OS X 10.10, or later.

Regards,
Kevin

We were able to fix this problem (on a Mac) by going to...

Documents>Adobe>Adobe Media Encoder

Documents>Adobe>Premiere Pro

...and deleting everything out of there while both AME and Premiere Pro were closed. Then we restarted the programs, which rebuilt those folders. Sorry, not sure exactly which of those folders were the one that fixed the problem, but one of them definitely was.
