Some people who have downloaded Adobe Media Encoder with Premiere Pro CS6 as part of a Creative Cloud Membership subscription have a problem in which the MPEG2, MPEG2-DVD, MPEG2-Blu-ray, Dolby Digital, & MXF OP1a codecs are missing.

To fix this issue, install the Adobe Media Encoder CS6 (6.0.1) update. Choose Help > Updates to install the update.

Thanks for the suggestions, but my problems, following the topic of the thread, are based on export, that there are nooptions for MPEG 2 DVD encoding in Adobe Media encoder or even in the export menu of Premiere pro.

If you create a new sequence, what presets are available?  Do you see a preset group for R3D?

I know your question is about export, but it could point us to a solution.

I think Louis that refferred to an addon suite of software , developed by MAIN CONCEPT  for Adobe, to be used in PPro CS6, ( Rovi TotalCode - Integrates in PPro, EN and AE ).

After the installation of this addon, very expensive for the information here. It costs around US900,(complete version with cinema resources and codecs ), so PPro, EN , AE will happily works with MPEG and in addition enlarges the use of CUDA cores in NVIDIA  video boards for accelerated encoding. Only AA CS6 did not use natively MPEG2. Still maintain the original file support.

I do not know for sure if this the solution Louis mentioned. But this was the solution we encounter here in our studio. For us , resolved the MPG2 issue.

Jeff makes a very good point about Audition, but I wanted to make a very quick comment (hope that it is quick enough), regarding Au and SB in the CS suites. When Adobe ported PrPro for the Mac with CS3, Au would not then work on that platform. They wrote a new audio program, Soundbooth, that was X-platform. They tried to incorporate the aspects, that video-editors told them would be useful. It did seem "dumbed down," but Adobe did try mightily.

Finally, Au was ported X-platform, so SB is now history.

Just some background.

Good luck,

Hunt

I've been trying to encode my .MP4 footage from my Sony XDCAM EX1 over and over and over again into MPEG2. This has cost me dearly. C'mon! really? I run a business and expect better from ADOBE. This is what I get for upgrading from CS5.5. Lesson here is if it ain't broke then don't fix it. This has Seriously has cost my whole production company 2 days of fiddling and searching threads to find this fix. I downloaded this app 10 days ago and figured i'd be solid considering I bought a subscription service that's supposed always cutting edge.

Can you hear my frustration? I would have loved to have received an email regarding this BUG.

Althought this is a year later than OP...

I am having the exact same problem except I am using 6.0.3.1 creative cloud!
My workplace purchased it a few days ago.

Reinstalling has not helped. There is no R3D preset either.

It is extremely annoying having to export through Premiere instead of editing with a background render in encoder.

Using an HP 8770W, 32gb Ram, Quadro k3000m, i7

If you are not seeing the R3D preset either, check the help page I linked to earlier - http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/features-presets-missing-premiere-pro.html

That will help

Hey Greg,

Thanks for the reply, but that link is for Premiere Pro, my issue is with Adobe Media Encoder. I have R3D and MPEG2 presets available through the premiere application but I am unable to queue them into encoder.

When queueing it instead changes the footage into an AAC file and has no available MPEG2 presets.

Not sure why it is only available in PPRO and not AME.

thanks for any help!

it not resolve anything. Only ensure Adobe that the particular client , uses original, not pirated software.

The original problem, of this thread,  that are MPEG2 Support, at least for us here, was resolved only by the installation of another suite of softeare within CS6.

RD3 preset that arose here is another issue.

Adobe already knows I have original software, hence why I said "creative cloud subscription". I have no idea why I should prove it to you. You honestly sound like you are trying to get me to post my serial key or something...but I will ignore that.

From reading the thread it sounds like the original problem was solved by updating. But that was a few years ago. And now I have the same problem in the newest version.

What do you mean by installing another suite of software within cs6? A creative cloud subscription pretty much comes with the master collection. Reinstalling hasn't helped and the others I work with that also purchased adobe creative cloud subscription have the same problem.

Can you at least try the steps Greg gave you here? http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/features-presets-missing-premiere-pro.html

It's for AME and Premiere Pro, so worth a try.

We have 10+ cloud licences and all of them running on Win7 are missing mpeg2 in ME.  It's in Premeire, so you can export, but you can't queue.  It just defaults to the first codec in the list, ACC audio.  VERY frustrating and mind baggling to be honest.  The whole point of the cloud is that you don't have to install and reinstall again, since its dynamically updated.

By the way, on our Macs, its fine.  PLEASE patch this.  We won't unintall and reinstall all our machines since its obviously NOT our boxes which are Dells and HPs with different configurations. Its a bug in the software.  Thats what patches are for.

6.0.3.1  Says up to date.  Wondering if this has anything to do with Encore installing incorrectly.  Since Encore is obviously tied with DVDs, I wonder if theres a connection.  Encore neither shows up in Adobe Application Manager nor Win itself.  Can't update, can't uninstall it.  But I can run it.

Encore does not show up in Adobe Application Manager by itself - it is part of the Adobe Premiere Pro family option.  It can sometimes get separated from the other components in the Start Menu.  I know mine is located in a folder called Adobe while the rest of the Cloud is in the root of the menu.  Do a Search in the Start Menu to see if the icon turns up.

You can also deactivate the software, close the program, reboot and then reopen and reactivate it.  There is no penalty for doing so and it is a lot less intrusive than reinstallation.

However, sometimes the files are just not installed properly.  We did issue a fix that resolved it for some users that was a part of 6.0.1 but that dealt with complete installations. If the files are not installed properly, no patch is going to fix that.  The only solution is to uninstall and reinstall the Premiere Pro family.
