When working in timelines in premiere I will experience random crashes once every hour or two. The program will hang, the window will grey out and become unresponsive, and I will force quit through task manager. Then upon re opening the program premiere hangs on the loading screen displaying no text of individual modules loading. To successfully relaunch premiere I need to restart my machine. Has happened on multiple revisions of premiere 2022 and premiere beta 2022. I notice no individual system component getting overloaded, no cpu core is maxed, plenty of free ram/vram, no network bottleneck. Adobe please help.

I was able to use task manager, analyze the wait chain for Premiere, and locate an svchost.exe process that Premiere is hung on. I force quit the specific PID svchost.exe in task manager and relaunched premiere successfully without restarting my machine. Still annoying to constantly be crashing.

Further analysis of the specific SVCHost in the services tab of task manager shows Audiosrv is the process that's hanging. Windows audio is crashing for some reason despite the rest of system audio responding fine while premiere is hung.

Hi there!
Sorry about the crash. Does it happen with a specific project? Do you get crash reports? https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-where-do-i-find-premiere-pro-crash-logs-...
Let us know.
Thanks,
Kartika

Happens in multiple projects in both the latest premiere beta and stable releases. No crash reports in the Premiere Pro 22.0/Logs folder. I don't actually get a crash message in premiere, the program just hangs indefinitely until I force quit and then restart windows audio services in task manager.

This is a generic bug with 22.2. I had issues with 22.2 Adobe playback issues. Reverting to 22.1 completely removed the problem. 22.2 is a nightmare and should be withdrawn

I just built a new computer and got it in this week. I was dealing with the same problem as you describe with trying to edit with Premiere. Thanks to @Jeff Bellune for the fix. It worked and I've not crashed since the change.
