I shoot a lot on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and when I place the footage onto the timeline the colour flattens. It's bright and nicely lit in the Source but then flat and dark in the timeline. AFter I go to the trouble of upping the exposure, when I export it the footage is then so blown out skin tones are yellow and neon.
This was not a problem before the cloud update. How do I stop this from happening?

The Premiere 2022 color system was completely rebuilt, including the default preferences.
Prior to this version, Premiere was totaly a Rec.709/SDR application. It had been given "the ability to work with HDR in HLG or PQ by using over-range values". But the basis was Rec.709.
Not any more ... it's completely color space agnostic. And the defaults have changed so that clips with the HLG color space are being displayed as an HDR clip, without being transformed into the old SDR/Rec.709 smaller space.
I've got a couple FAQs for the forum, giving the changes, how to work with them, and the problems still remaining in the first one. The second is for those using HDR, how to set monitors in Pr2022 as that has also changed.
Basically, you need to select those clips in the Project panel bin, right-click, Modify/Interpret Footage, and use the option to Override to Rec.709.
Then make sure your Sequence Settings dialog shows the sequence as set to Rec.709. And export in standard presets.
Of course if you go into your phone's settings, and tell it NOT to export in HLG, but in Rec.709, you won't have this problem to begin with.

It's impossible to change the space there. Color management is grayed out. Not available.
This option is probably still under development.
Are you talking about the beta version of Adobe premiere?

No, the CM management in the Interpret Footage dialog came out with the 22.0 release. Over a year ago.
Is HLG media from the iPhone? What exactly are you getting on the screen? A screen-grab, drag/dropped onto the TEXT reply box, not the 'attach files' box, would be great.
As several other iPhone users aren't getting usable CM settings at this time. Which is ... weird. So I'd love to see an image and of course know which precise build of Premiere you're running. On what OS.

My apologies)) I was the one who broke my lip trying to do this trick with an ordinary clip (not with an iphone clip)))
Yeah. It doesn't work like that)
Although, assimilate scratch was able to interpret the clip separately. But that's another topic.
