Seriously, what is going on? FCP, After FX etc all run fine. Premiere squeezes the processor so hard my mac wants to explode, even with loading audio waveforms. It is so ridiciulously slow, laggy and full of bugs! I used to create 4k graphics in After FX with YouTube in the background, emails going off, etc. Why can't I edit 1080 footage?
It struggles scrubbing through 1 minute of 1080p footage. I have 64GB RAM, 4.2 Quad Core i7, SSD, etc. It hates everything as soon as Premiere is opened.
1080 x 1920 sequences are so sluggish you can't do anything.
If you make a colour matte from the top menu, it doesn't exist, you have to make it from the project window.
Today - all my keyframes from yesterday have disppeared.
All my grades after an update disappeared.
Rendering causes weird glitches.
Export looks vastly different to what's on the timeline.
Constant lag.
Constant freezing.
Constant crashes.
It will freeze video and continue playing audio, while disabling ability to stop it doing this.
Mod note: Title was changed to reflect your main issue. Edited for content. Off topic commentary was removed. Premiere Pro Discussions is a user to user forum. Please file a bug to communicate issues directly to the product team.

Hello @Fantomas100,
Thanks for the message. I work in support. I hope to help you. I don't see these issues on my own system and they are not widespread. I believe that most of your problems can be overcome by troubleshooting steps and by optimizing media. It appears you're having performance issues, mainly. Let's try and troubleshoot those first.
You said:

Sounds odd. Can the community get a bit more info?
What troubleshooting steps have you taken?
If you make a colour matte from the top menu, it doesn't exist, you have to make it from the project window.
Yes. You can't create any of the synthetics from the File Menu if the Project panel is not selected. I believe this behavior has always been that way. It would help if the documentation addressed the issue. Instead it typically instructs you to use the New Item button in the Project panel: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/creating-special-clips-synthetics.html
I have filed a documentation bug on your behalf and will advocate for a fix. The product should also throw a warning, and I will let the product team know about this as well by filing a bug there too. Sorry about this.
Today - all my keyframes from yesterday have disppeared.
I moved your post on this thread to a bug report. I will make sure that the product team knows about this bug. I apologize for that. I hope that this issue can be fixed ASAP.
All my grades after an update disappeared.
Usually, that is due to your LUTs being stored in the wrong location. There is a lot of bad info on the internet concerning where to install LUTs. Could that be the case?
If that is not the case, please let the community know. Let's look at these issues that you also mentioned.

Export, performance, and scaling issues similar to what you mentioned can be traced to the GPU. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, that company released faulty drivers for a number of months in late 2022 to early 2023. Let us know if updating to the latest studio drivers helps you.
Let us know if your project is working better after considering these steps. Very sorry for the frustration on all these issues.
Thanks,
Kevin

I'm having a serious problem with 23.5 needing to render after every edit change. Essential graphics are super slow as well.

OK, @edit58989569,
The proper location for support is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html The chat pod is in the lower right corner. Be sure to ask for an agent in the "Video Queue" to get the best possible agent for digital video issues. I hope the advice helps.
Thanks,
Kevin

Removing preferences solved the issues, but one of my projects is corrupted. Is the only solution to re-do the entire project? We tried importing it into new project but that did not work.

Hi,
Check the Auto Save folder, which should also should have backed up your project file at key moments. You may have to redo some of the work if the Auto Save was not created at a timely moment.
What many pro editors usually do is manually back up their projects at key times by using Save As or Save A Copy. Three times a day is the norm. Place a copy of this folder to the cloud daily.
I hope the advice helps.
Thanks,
Kevin

I do save it daily and have autosave.
The project file is "working" but after every edit change I have to render, which is why support said it was "corrupted" and I would need to re-do the project. How would I know when the file became "corrupted" if I went back to autosave or previous project?

Kevin. Good News! I resolved my issue without having to redo my project! I deleted all my preferences and imported the project into a new project, and this time it worked!

Thank you for the indepth reply, it's much appreciated.
Today, I'm editing 4K footage on a 1080 timeline at 24fps. Footage was shot at 60 and I've interpreted it to 24.
I'm getting severe lag and playback issues with Premiere taking 10 minutes to render a small 10 second section.
- No issues in system compatability report.
- My Specs:
Processor is Intel Quad Core 4.2 GHz i7 with QuickSync.
Memory 64GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 580 8GB
- Drives have 200GB free space
- Todays source footage is H.264 MP4
- I've deleted media cache, etc
What do you think needs changing? Processor? GPU? Everything?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks !
