I am experiencing a stuttering preview in Premiere Pro, altough my hardware should be decent enough to handle it. I tried several solutions, but nothing helped unfortunately. Maybe anyone here comes up with a good idea!
What´s also weird is, that we are using a iMac with similar hardware, which is having no performance issues. We use two computers running windows, which both have the same problems when using Premiere Pro.
Here are the steps I tried
1.) Tried Mercury Playback - Software only / CUDA
2.) Disabled Intel´s h.264 acceleration (and cold boot afterwards)
3.) Using proxies
4.) Copying all data to the SSD (usually editing on NAS)
5.) Cleared Media Cache
6.) Assigned as much RAM as possible to Premiere Pro
7.) High Quality Playback disabled
8.) Preview size set to 1/4
9.) Nvidia Control is set to max. Performance
I also read about problems with .mov files. All my files are in mp4 though.
My system uses:
- Xeon x5670
- 16 GB RAM
- GTX 1060
- NAS with 10 Gbit of speed
I have the same problem, hopefully someone will help!
Apple MacBookPro M2 Max
96 GB VRAM
macOS Ventura 13.3
Premiere Pro 23.6.0
Yes, I´ve turned on the button to activate the proxyfile and I see the blue bag for proxy on the file in the timeline.
Let me know which information you need to help.
Looking forward to solve this problem.
The hardware and media between these two posts are so different I doubt it's the same underlying causes.
As to the PC original post ... that is a truly ancient CPU there! Created in 2010 ... thirteen years ago ... and in computer terms, mammals weren't even walking the planet yet. Only 6 cores, no H.264/long-GOP bits that I can find, only 16GB of RAM, and an "old" 1060 with maybe 6GB of vRAM.
Not a modern bit of kit, by any means. And if you're using long-GOP mp4 files, I would not expect to get much performance from that system. Although @RjL190365 would be the user with the most detailed and solid information on that.
Preview is possible in full resolution!
I opened an older VR-Project in Adobe Premiere Pro, where the workflow ran smoother, then I opened the VR-Project with the Proxy-problem without closing Adobe Premiere Pro and suddenly it ran smooth. I cant tell you why, but the beast don´t need proxies anymore, the preview is possible full resolution.
I know, that will not solve the problem of the first person issue!
But want to let you know, that my problem needs no further discussion.
