Hi everyone,
Issue - The following occurs in both my work PC and home PC, using a 2 monitor system with custom workspace in both locations. I can only give details of my work machine at the moment. My Program Monitor in the right hand monitor space disappears after I export to Media Encoder, which also sits in my right hand monitor.
Adobe Premiere Pro version number: 23.5.0 (Build 56)
Operating system - Windows 11 Pro version 10.0.22621 Build 22621
System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
CPU 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900, 2400 Mhz, 16 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)
GPU and Driver Version: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Version 31.0.15.3640
RAM 64.0Gb
Hard Drive: SSD 2Tb
Monitors: AOC at work, Phillips at home.
Video format: h.264 1080p25/50
Workflow details: single or dual camera depending on the job (funeral services), but the issue happens with every export at work and home.
Steps to reproduce - Export the job to Media Encoder > start encoding to Mp4 (h.264 1080p25). Return to Premiere Pro and my right-hand monitor's window (floating Program Monitor) disappears.
Expected result - Both Premiere Pro windows of my custom workspace should have remained viewable.
Actual result - Program Monitor window disappears. I have to choose a standard workspace, then choose my custom workspace for both windows to reappear.
Hello @austind69658590, @Elwoodjblues1, and @Agh27174342iz3y,
Please provide the team with more info about your system, media, and version numbers so they can set up a repro case. See, How do I write a bug report?
I hope we can help you soon.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hello @Abbottoklus,
Thanks for filing the bug. Does this sound like your issue? https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/program-monitor-disappears-when-exporting-to-media-....
If so, I will merge the posts.
Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, this thread is almost exactly descibing the issue; switch to Export in Premiere and when the export starts and switches back to the Edit workspace, the undocked panels are no longer open. I have to click on Reset to Saved Layout to return the panels to the workspace. Since all of my panels are undocked I end up with a workspace with nothing in it. This started the same time as the Edit and Export shortcuts were added to the workspace.

Same problem. I came to see if anyone found a fix, but there’s no solution at all. What I noticed is that if you select the full-screen video option in the upper right corner of Premiere, the program monitor displays in full-screen mode. It stays on the screen even if you switch applications. The downside is that while in full-screen mode, the option buttons disappear. It’s incredible that we pay so much for these services, yet there’s no solution to something so simple.

A couple things...
One, like anyone else, this and numerous other things about undocked panels and panels on secondary screens 'touching' another screen need fixing. Yup. Period.
Second, for practical concerns, Premiere as it is, just gets touchy if the main Premiere UI panel with the menu bar up top leaves the main OS screen, and if the Program monitor leaves the 'main' UI screen with the menu bar up top.
So in my four monitor setup, that I've used for years, I gave up and left the main 'window' on the main Windows monitor, and the Program monitor is always docked in that window.
And I use the Transmit Out in most of the nine custom workspaces I use, so for most of them the Program monitor is set pretty small to get more space for other things on that screen.
Not ideal, but ... in totally practical terms, it just always works.
I am happy to upvote trying for a fix for the use of monitors in Premiere anytime!
But that said, I work in the practical, real world of what I can best and most reliably do now. As things are.

Hi everyone, I have discovered a quick work-around.
Windows: Alt+Shift+0 (zero) reset to saved layout, including undocked panels.
Find it in Keyboard Shortcuts > Search bar > Alt+Shift+0

I wrote that months ago. It's just a weak solution, as the project windows are rearranged each time you reset and you have to search for the folders you were working in before.

I run a 2-screen setup, Windows 11, Premiere 24.6.3. My right screen is the Windows primary monitor, and where I place the Home/Import/Edit/Export window. My left screen has my Project and a few other windows grouped together, and these grouped windows will for whatever reason not snap to the desktop edges nor will they fully maximize.
So I manually resize these grouped windows to be "fullscreen". Since the new Export window was introduced I was having the problem described above: everything on my left window would disappear when going to export. Resetting to my saved workspace layout was the only solution.
Today I inadvertently discovered that if I resized the left screen's grouped windows to be slightly smaller than the screen itself (with a little background showing), those windows do NOT disappear when moving to Export. Not a perfect solve, but it does seem to work for me! FINALLY.

As noted in your other post on this, has been going on FOR YEARS!
Many complaints. But they still have not given us a modern UI for multiple screen workspaces.
