Project crashing every 2 minutes

i have one project which is crashing constantly

my workflow is crippled with this project

i can do other projects fine, but there is something wrong with this one particularly.

the only way for me to make any progress is to literally save every time i do a single thing, that way when it crashes i dont lose that one thing i did.

its unbearable.  this is a 14 minute short film , shot in 4k (400gb total size of the media used)

the film is in the very final stages of editing, just requires some minor (but important) tweeks.

is there some way that the project can be checked for errors? and repaired?

i wonder is it possible that there is some dodgy media in there?  like a sound effect which is somehow a corrupt file and causing this crash?

or is it a case that my computer cant handle the pressure? or is there some cache file i need to increase?

im using a laptop - proteus IV - 32GB ram - 2.9Ghz, windows 10

It could be any of the above. A good troubleshooting step is to create a brand new project file and import your previous one into the new one. You can retain all of your media and your folder structure, but it puts everything into a new .prproj file.

If that doesn't help then you need to narrow down what it is you're doing when you get the crash. Is it always in the same sequence? Have you tried switching from GPU-acceleration to Software-Only mode in the Project preferences? Note, that if you hit the "Clean" button from the Media Cache prefs, if will clean files that aren't in use, so you need to follow the steps above and clear the cache while Premiere is closed.

Perhapse a new project.

But in any case delete all cache and render files,

and your preference files.

After the 1st restart, set all settings correctly.

Only then create a new project, or test the old.
