Simple titling seems to have disappeared in 2019 Premiere Pro cc

Excuse me, community, but unless I am extremely stupid, I can't figure out how to type simple captions anymore.  In "good ol'" Premiere Pro 2018, you clicked the "T" button and then clicked in the program monitor and typed away in the red box.  Simple.  This for me in 2019 does not work.  If it has been "improved", there is no mention of it on the Adobe site, or here yet.  There seems to be a new "title" tab above the program monitor but I'm darned I know how to use it.  Can anyone help please?

In another thread, R Neil Haugen nails it: Advanced/custom Scaling. The setting comes with a warning if a display does not support the scaling used. I switched from 100% to 125% and bounding boxes are gone. Switch back, all okay.

A variety of issues have been reported (not just 2019) when using custom scaling.

HOWEVER, the user reporting the problem in the other thread said that it works in 2018 even with the custom scaling. And I have confirmed that.

See my tests and comment there:

For those of you experiencing this, see this post from a fellow sufferer. The scaling does not fix it for him, but using the Graphics workspace does?

Stan Jones, thank you for taking the time to reply.

Wow, you are my official new hero!  I would never have thought to look inside Windows settings to resolve a Premiere Pro issue, especially when the previous version of Premiere Pro had no such issues using the same PC settings.  Be that as it may though, I'm overjoyed to report that the solution of changing the custom scaling display setting within Windows itself has worked like a charm!

My Windows 10 laptop with its 15.6" Full HD screen came with a preset recommended scale of 125%, which I've never bothered to change unless projecting my screen onto a big screen for presentations.  I have now set it to 100% as proposed, and Premiere Pro CC 2019 now gives me visible text box boundaries when using the Type Tool icon, which I can drag around and resize as needed.  Awesome to have this back again!

Thank you so much!

I too...Am having this issue It appears that is ONLY in the newly updated Premiere Pro 2018 CC (v13) I Googled all over for the resolution and to no avail. So I uninstalled my updated v13 and reinstalled Pro 2017 and got the red frame box back and am now able to select the boundary box accordingly.

This is truly unfortunate since I have footage in 2018 and now have to go back to 2017.  Please can someone reach out to Adobe and let them know that the Text boundary box is "very much" needed for 2018 (v13 and on).

P.S. I'm in Windows and not Mac.

Just to keep the ducks in a row, version 13 is PR 2019; version 12 was PR 2018. I assume the version you have installed now is 2018.1.2.

Hi Stan,

Thank you for your reply. I have the full creative cloud apps, which I uninstalled v13 and installed v11.?.?, 2017.  It's definitely must be a "bug" for 2019 v13 because I just reinstalled it back and no boundary text box, no way to move the text nor editing text.  I don't know if this is a concern for PC versus Mac, but it's a "big" concern for me.  I have several weeks of footage that I've been working under the newer version and now I have to use the Legacy tool

UPDATE:  There's no red frame nor blue boundary box for selecting in v13. However, I do see that I can move the text, I guess I'll just imagine the red/blue frame is there

Thanks for replying to my concern.

So the legacy tool is working for you in 2019 (Version 13)? That's something.

Shivangi, is that a hint for where the problem might lie?

Can't find you in the list to "mention."

I had the same issue.

For what I could see, the text box wasn't showing in my custom workspace.

So I delete it, and created a new from the Editing Workspace preset.

Now the the text box is working fine.
