Smart rendering not workin

Community Beginner ,

Hello! When I try to pre-render the timeline and 'use previews'. It isn't working, the export time still shows many hours even though it should be done within a few seconds as usual.

Secondly, when I cancel the export, Premiere pro gets stuck and I have to force quit it. The new update is bugged

Well - I just exported a Smart Rendered Pro Res master last night and I think found exactly the same problem !.

I ticked the Use Previews box but somehow it is ignoring it as all the clips I had rendered using Optical Flow - as they were all jerky again on playing back the Pro Res Master.

I'm editing H264/H265 material on 50 fps timeline and always render as I go along.

I had some clips that were 59.94fps where I was near indoor lighting (in the USA) and sometimes forgot to switch camera back to 50fps.

So I rendered these clips using optical flow during editing, nesting them then adding Lumetri etc and they were very smooth on the timeline playback - but the Pro Res exported master (Pro Res 422) was not on those clips

So I think you are right - the Previews are not being used during export - can Engineering prove they are ?

If this is a bug - please fix it ASAP as it is a serious issue.

I'm just trying an H265 export direct file from the Premiere timeline to see what happens

Update - the direct export using H265 from the timeline reveals the 59.94 fps clips that had Optical Smoothing applied are in fact smoother than the Pro Res master. Not perfect as native 50fps, but quite acceptable.

So something is wrong when Exporting Pro Res master and using previously rendered Pro Res Previews in my opinion

I might try the Beta Version of Premiere Pro to do a short test to see if that makes any difference, but haven't seen any other reports on this yet?.
