Hi,
I tried to find answers online but with no luck.
It is basically impossible for me to edit 1080p footage with my pc (playback stops after 4-5 sec)
Pc Specs:
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Intel-Core-i7-4790/Rating/2293
Kingston 12 Gb 1600 MHz 8192, 4096 MB
The files I have are from my S9+ 120 FPS
After 4-5 sec of slow motion / speed ramp the whole playback stops.
Is the PC too slow or are there settings I screwed up?
Thanks for a short feedback.
120 fps files are heavy on cpu (or gpu if you gpu supports hardware decoding of it).
Looking at your specs, you PC doesn't look beefy enough for that. But you could try to use proxies, using cineform codec for example, as it will relieve your hardware from decoding the very demanding h264/h265 codecs.

I thought that PP doesn't need a good GPU (maybe the good is/was compared to cards for games)
Then I'll first try to update my GPU, if i change the CPU I would need a new motherboard, RAM,...
The GPU I can then move to the new system when it's time.
Will try the proxy as well.
Thanks for your help.

Premiere Pro relies more and more on the GPU, from decoding codecs to Lumetri color correction and some effects.
So if you're planning to do more editing more often, you'll eventually need to upgrade

just one more thing...
I checked the PC performance during playback.
CPU 30-40 %
Memory 30% (60% with Chrome open)
Disk 15-30%
GPU 1%
Mercury GPU Acceleration is enabled
Can that be? I thought the system should be one any one of these parameters at 100%, or am I wrong?

As said in an earlier thread: use proxies.
Your machine is way underpowered.

I understand that my machine is not up to date but based on the task manager it's not using the anywhere close to it's full capabilities:/

the problem maybe caused by incompatible ram and GPU Nvidia Geforce GT 620 needs 16 GB ram to work correctly.
