Switching to Effects workspace turns screen blank or gray

the screen goes gray (none of the other panels/features are visible). I've tried closing out the project and turning off the computer, but this still happens when I click on it. If you don't know a way to directly fix it, is there a shortcut/bug I don't know about?

When it goes gray, go to the menu Windows > Workspaces > Reset to Saved Layout.

You may need to do this a couple of times.

@Yiotal: Try the solution here: Workspace turns gray. Also, select Window > Workspaces and see if Import Workspace from Projects is checked. If it is, uncheck it. Hope this helps!
