Complete List of New Features in Adobe Premiere Pro 24.5
Editing and Workflow
The latest Premiere Pro version brings exciting enhancements. You can now add custom watermarks to proxies and seamlessly handle Canon and RED camera files. We’ve fine-tuned ProRes presets, boosting export performance. Enhance Speech is even smarter. Don’t miss out—update now! 😊
Learn about best practices for updating Premiere Pro.
Custom watermark for proxy files
Mark proxies with a custom or default watermark inside Premiere Pro.
Improve your proxy workflows inside Premiere Pro by adding a custom watermark to the footage. Watermarks help to secure footage and prevent the wrong video files from being shared publicly. Add a watermark during the Create Proxies process.
ProRes is an essential output format for video professionals. The ProRes export preset has been updated to default to 16-bit, rendered at maximum bit depth, to match the modern needs for ProRes outputs. You’ll now see up to 3x faster export speeds. You don’t need to do anything to access the ProRes updates; they’re on by default.
We’re continuing to improve Enhance Speech, which uses AI to improve voice recordings to sound like they were recorded in a professional studio. We’ve added a normalization process to improve audio levels for quiet recordings.
Expanded Canon and RED Support
Work natively with Canon EOS C400 and RED V-RAPTOR [X] camera files. Import files and start editing right away. No transcoding is required.

Wait, so enhanced speech is now enhanced! Do you think they'll add a way to change your voice? What's happening with the Gen AI updates in Premiere are they waiting to present those at MAX?

There seems to be a bug where the premiere pro project window won't stop scrolling to the bottom, making it difficult to scroll through footage.
I've experienced this bug on both PC and Mac versions of premiere pro, and happens randomly during the edit. On PC it would happen instantly after closing and reopening premiere, and on Mac it seems to happen randomly whilst editing.
The work around is to drag the project window onto another screen and enlarge it so there is no need to scroll, a bit inconvenient but it'll do for now.

Hello. I'm not sure if this comment belongs here or in the "bugs" forum, as the scope of the problem is general and likely a flaw more than a bug.
I'm an editor in longform documentary, so I work with dense and lengthy timelines, and I'm finding that the timeline navigation and playback is almost unusable in 24.4.1 & 24.5.
- playback stutters
- scrubbing is delayed
- moving around the timeline is very clunky and delayed (zooming in and out / moving forwards and backwards)
- *and most annoyingly, Alt+Scroll no longer accurately zooms into your cursor; particularly at the end of the timeline. It will only zoom into the center of the visible timeline.
24.3 (and earlier) didn't have any of these issues, and worked as I’ve long come to expect of Premiere Pro.
Myself and a community of editors working on docuseries in central Canada are all experiencing this, and have tried 24.5 on multiple suites with consistent results.
We hope that an effort is being made to improve timeline functionality? And are there any options or functions that we can change within the software to help improve smoothness and accuracy while navigating the timeline?
The new features are appreciated, but not if they hinder the core functionality of video editing.
