Why can't I right click on my files in the project area/bins in the new Premiere Pro CC 2015?

I recently updated my premiere to the newest version (2015.1 Release; Adobe Premiere Pro CC v9.1).

Since updating, I haven't been able to right click on my sequence files in my project area. I'm able to right click on the clips and other files, but not the sequences.

I use right click on the sequences to quickly duplicate the sequence in order to save previous versions of my edits.

I can still duplicate by selecting the sequence and then going to Edit > Duplicate....but right clicking is just so much more convenient and useful while I'm editing.

Is there a specific reason why right clicking is no longer available on sequence files in Premiere projects?

I just came across that problem as well where i could not right click on any clips in my timeline.

What worked for me was to change / reset my workspace.

Seems to work fine now.

Thanks for your feedback Richard! This is probably helpful for narrowing down the problem.

I have the same problem on both Mac and Windows in different projects. The problem pops up after a certain time working in the project. It's very annoying.

I have noticed you can right click when you select 2 sequences at the same time, Only then, I am able to change label colors, etc...

I've said it before on this forum, This is the most buggy update to premiere I've had to date. And fellow editors at various production company's say the same...

Please Adobe, fix it...

I would love someone to have an answer to this.. I have never had so many problems with premiere in the last six years I've been using it after switching back from FCP.

To give a little insight.. something happens and it comes and goes when you can and cannot right click it.

I'm having the same issue with mulicam sequences (Windows 7, Premiere CC v 9.1). In one project I used to be able to right-click any of my multicam sequences for the purpose of opening them in a timeline. During the course of editing the project, I systematically lost the ability to right-click them. Closing Premiere and reopening fixed the bug early on, but then even that didn't help. The only thing that worked for me was creating a custom keyboard shortcut for the reason I was right-clicking... Incredibly frustrating bug, but at least the keyboard shortcuts work!

I also have this problem with CC 2015.1 (9.1), on Windows 10. In a large project, right-clicking any sequence in the Project panel does nothing.

What Kevin's answer didn't go into explaining, is that in the Adobe system, the bug reports are what get reported to the senior managers who determine budget levels for engineering time ... so those bug reports that seem annoying at times and are rarely acknowledged actually are rather more important than most users understand. While Kevin and some other staffers do wonderful help here, and do pass on what they can, the official in-house system is those bug reports filed in a database.

So ... please, file away ...

Yes, thanks Neil. I didn't mean to be short. Apologies for that.

It's just that this is primarily a troubleshooting forum. While we have some from the engineering team help out here from time to time, there's primarily just a couple of us here. Whenever customers need to address "Adobe," that is word problem math that means "file a bug report." I sometimes forget that most people coming here for help might not know that. Thanks for explaining that!

Have a wonderful weekend.

I seem to be having the same issue. When I right-click on a sequence in the project window, nothing happens. Confirmed that it does work if more than one sequence is selected.

Filing a bug-report now. Thanks Kevin.

Same issue here. I've also noticed that once this problem occurs, when I try to drag/nest a sequence into my main sequence, premiere then hangs and I have to restart. I haven't found a solution to this besides just not nesting anymore 😕

Is your situation limited to nesting/nested sequences, or is right-clicking an item/sequence still non-functional for you? It's working fine here, and should be for you, so ... let's keep at it.

It's working fine for me right now. Its occurance has been arbitrary in the past though so I'll let you know if it occurs again and hopefully I can also find a trigger if so. Thanks!

Hi there,

Clearly a lot of us are having this issue, which has been around for months now (I first noticed it in November). It would be great to get a fix soon. As I use Premiere 40+ hours a week for feature editing, I don't have the luxury of starting new projects to try to fix it as I'm editing projects with large amounts of organized footage, so starting from scratch repeatedly is not an option. Not having the 'right click' functionality really kills my workflow and slows down my editing time.

I'm currently running most recent releases and updates of Premiere and OSX, on a new machine.

Thanks

I am also having this problem.

Specifically around right click within sequences. I get an import dialogue every time I click on a clip.

Same issue here on CC 2015 9.2 only three things in the Project bin. Can't right click on Audio, Video or Sequences, but if I create a bin I can right click on it. This is a major issue that needs to be addressed ASAP.

Soooo... any update on a bug fix? Having to unplug my second monitor every time I start or restart Premiere or change projects is driving me a little nuts.

The issue manifests itself as:

  • an inability to right click on most (but not all) items on the timeline and bin,
  • tool icons all appearing as a standard cursor
  • altering a value on the secondary monitor (ie. the exposure in Lumetri Color) throws the cursor over to the primary monitor on release

The issues are fixed for a short term by unplugging and replugging in the mini displayport cable. They reappear when Premiere is started or the project changed.

This is using Premiere 9.2.0 on OSX 10.11.3 on a late 2014 5k iMac.
