I have some clips of an interview saved in a premiere project right now but when I opened it all the audio was gray and green diagonal stripes. So now all the audio is either missing or some of it is randomly replaced with audio from a different project I was working on over a year ago. The entire imported and merged clip in the media library has random audio from a different clip. Why does this random audio keep replacing the correct audio for these clips and how can I restore the original audio into the timeline without completely starting over?

You can try to relink it to the proper clips by first selecting the incorrectly linked clips either in your sequence or the project bin, right clicking and select "Make Offline..."  Make sure to select "Media Files Remain on Disk" in the pop-up window.

Next, right click on your offline clips and select "Link Media...".  In the window that appears, select the "Locate" button in the lower right corne
