Ability for Disable Program Monitor Zoom Settings

Explorer ,
Jun 02, 2024 Jun 02, 2024

Please add the following settings
1. Ability to disable zoom on the program window or change mouse scroll wheel behavior. While scrubbing on the timeline with the mouse wheel it's prone to accidentally moving the cursor over the video and unintentionally zooming causing a frustrating experience.

2. Setting to disable the nodes on audio transitions in the sequence timeline. They make it more difficult to make edits in the timeline.

Mod note: The title was changed slightly

Hi @jessenicoli Updating the status of this Idea. The first issue is affecting my workflow, as well. The second issue needs to be filed separately, if you don't mind. @jessenicoli. I'd be happy to advocate for that.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi @s_5527,

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums and sorry you're experiencing issues.

Have you tried hovering over the time ruler itself and swiping? This should allow you to scrub through your video as before. If you hover above the time ruler area, it will zoom in and out instead.

Sorry for the frustration,
Dani

I was curious so downloaded the beta to see if was something that might be fixed in the next version. It's a no... same issue.

Such a terrible feature that causes me so much grief daily!

Bizarre the adobe have no interest in fixing it. Guess it's time to ditch premiere....

Hi @s_5527, sorry for the delay and thank you for explaining further. This has been the default behavior for all the more recent Premiere Pro versions but I completely understand the frustration and an option to revert this change has been requested before. It's not a complete workaround but you can try holding down the 'Shift' key with the swipe to speed up the scrub in the time ruler for longer clips. I will merge your post to the Ideas thread here so it can get more visibility.

@Dani_V.

As far as I know, a lot of people use this exact approach when editing, so I'm honestly a bit puzzled that the default settings were changed for the worse. I really hope you’ll consider fixing this "bug".

That said, having the zoom-in/out function triggered by moving fingers left and right on the trackpad feels very unnatural and strange.

Still an unresolved issue in beta 25.4.0(9)!

I want to highlight the urgent need for an option to choose between zooming or navigating through the clip in Source Monitor when using a trackpad. It's basically impossible to work properly without it.

I don't think Adobe realised this is a function we all use. This needs to be fixed/put back to how it was, it's awful. Only being able to scroll on the timeline ruler is very very silly.

Still no update on that and it's SUPER antiproductive. It's a small thing but affects everything1 Either on monitor screen or source screen, I often find myself stoppinh wtahever I'm doing to fix the zoom!
@jessenicoli I'm with you, man!

This is one of those frustrating things that is for some a huge help ... and for some, like thee and me, just a pain.

I totally agree, they need to make this optional. As the many who love it would be as ticked off if it was now removed. As we have been over the change.

User options are always nice.

The issue is @Dani_V. is not that we particularly want to scrub the old way - it's that the zoom feature is so easily activated by mistake whenever your cursor passes over the preview box. It means you constantly have to stop and reset the sizing and really has big impact on workflow.
