I'm a shortcuts person, and I like customizability. Please make the new Header Bar feature of Version 22.3 optional. I have no use for any of the buttons or information on the header, all of which are redundant and can be accessed either through the toolbar or via keyboard shortcuts. I appreciate that the Header may be convenient for new Premiere users, but for power users it is wasted screen real estate.
There's some problems here even for people who don't want to completely remove it.
I am perturbed that the only way to see my workspaces is way off to the right in an extremely low-contrast font. (also, hard to find: just see issues like "Please put workspaces BACK in the top Header Bar"). I have an IPS display so the darks suck, especially when I lower the brightness for night-time (I don't need great color fidelity 100% of the time, and your dark theme should still be readable when I don't).
I recently finished a 200-hour project where I spent less than an hour importing things and less than 10 hours playing with export settings. Why do I need home/import/edit/export at the top left? This isn't optimized for how I work. In the old set-up, I could just have the 3-4 workspaces I actually use at the top and the rest was uncluttered. Why would you remove UI features when the current paradigm could have fit in the old components?
Adobe, why would you make a bar that can't be turned off? You're taking away choice from experienced users. I'd MUCH rather have the screen real estate.
I love a clean and minimalist interface. no distraction. I can change my workspace with the windows menu at the top. I don't want to stare all day at those different Import, edit, export and workspace bar.
It's like they want to be iMovie. This is a professional editing suite, not a bit of software for kids. Why do I need this extra clutter on my display? Between this and the export window I wonder if Adobe have subcontracted their UI design to Fisher Price!
True Story. It is a waste of screen space, where the space it takes up on screen is far more than the option(s) will be used. And if they were used substantially than 1) there are keyboard shortcuts that get there faster or 2) there are menu options that get there faster. So yeah, the bar is neither a solution, or a help. But it is taking up space that used to be less cluttered and allowed me to focus more on the work. Adobe seems to be making a point to make it less and less about getting work done, and more about being in Adobe. Davinci Resolve is a real solution to this problem.
I'm so happy to see so many others posting about this issue!!! Please remove this horrid abomination of wasted screen real estate ASAP!!! This is a deal breaker. Please fix this! This whole new import, edit, export disaster can be destroyed. Thank GOD Media Encoder was not harmed during this forced experiment.
I think I figured it out! If we can collectively cast a "love spell" maybe we can make Adobe fall in love with their users and actually listen to what we are saying instead of only falling in love with the $$$$$

The Workspaces is crucial for easy development and a quick response. Remember that we usually switch between Effects, Colors, Graphics, etc. many, many, many times during the edition, these are the main tasks we do when editing and we spend hours doing it. and when we importing or exporting is just few times during the dev of a project, please add a toggle shortcut between old header bar where the workspaces are at a glance and one-click away and the new header. it would be really nice!. get rid of the new header bar stuck at the top wasting valuable real state on the screen, if you make a poll between the old one and the new one you'd be surprised...
The header bar - in either form - should be completely optional. I can already import media via the project window or media browser, I export exclusively using the Ctrl+M shortcut, and I switch workspaces precisely zero times over the course of a project. The only thing the header bar or the old workspaces toolbar does for me is take up valuable screen real estate.
I just upgraded, after spending an hour trying to figure out how to remove it, only to discover it's not something I can do. Screen real estate is far more valuable than this. I have a keyboard shortcut assigned to all these buttons. It is completely useless to me.
This is not a fix but for those who might not know, you can press control-alt-\ and the Window title bar for Premiere will disappear. This at least give you a little bit of you real estate back even if you can't turn off the new header bar.
Dear Adobe Premiere Team, listen up please. Your job is not to design what you want to design. Nor is it to make PP seem fun and easy for newbies. It is to evolve an incredible tool incrementally in the direction its professional user base needs to work faster, more efficiently, and more accurately with the top cameras, codecs and post workflows in the industry, executed with more common sense, and inter-share-ability. Stay on goal please. Ditch the Header Bar, or make it OPTIONAL. How dare you take away screen real estate to display useless headers for what is commonly already accomplished elsewhere. You are off track officially now, and no longer represent the product or its professional user base. I think I speak for many here...I've spent years, decades honing my craft and at the moment, although fading fast, Premiere is the tool I need. It is my preferred goto every time, and without hesitation since 2013 I have used it over Avid or Final Cut for every film and TV project. But lately your glitchy updates and recent habit of undoing or ruining the established layout and features of this great software is not just disappointing...but seriously interfering with my work. Once upon a time not too long ago using Premiere was a joy. Lately (last 6 months) the "improvements" and interface alterations you keep making are nothing but a step back. You are about to lose users wholesale to Resolve. And I will be among them.
Three months into my swap to Resolve I find myself kicking myself for sticking with Premiere so long. It’s appalling that I paid so much for so long and walked away with nothing but the deep feeling that I was defrauded into paying monthly for a product that was getting worse and worse. Crashing more frequently and moving away from my professional needs towards a childish one product fits all from major movies to one time content creator. Resolve cost me 6 months subscription to CC and now it’s mine forever free support and upgrades forever. Additionally. IT NEVER CRASHES. 5 days on a 4K timeline with grades and effects. No problem. I thought 4 major crashes a day was normal. Save yourselves. Jump!
Adobe's made it clear that they have no interest in user feedback. I voted for this, as I've voted for lots of other things since the bloated, less-functional UI change, but I think I'll probably just switch to Resolve at this point.
Adobe seemsto be on the tracks to rejoin the Great Apple Faith : "We know better than users what they need !" You can't get read of this useless menu bar because WE like it... But do not worry : you will soon be able to use our brand new AI to edit movies in your place ; )
