How do I complain about an Adobe affiliate/reseller?

Community Beginner ,
Oct 11, 2016 Oct 11, 2016

I was sold an invalid license by an Adobe reseller (www.pricetagcanada.com) who now refuses to refund my money or provide a valid license.

I have chatted with Adobe support and they have referred me to the retailer.

The affiliate continues to sell Adobe products.

To whom at Adobe can I complain?

Any suggestions?

Links below are all I have... BUT... just because someone sells software does not always mean they are an OFFICIAL partner with a license from the vendor to sell the software

How are you sure that the place you bought from is an official Adobe partner?

Have you filed a complaint with your credit card company?

-Adobe Security http://helpx.adobe.com/security/alertus.html

-or a link on http://www.adobe.com/genuine.html for co

I am not sure they are an authorized reseller. If they are I might be able to get some redress from Adobe. If they are not, then I'd like Adobe to cut them off so others are not taken advantage of.

My credit card company has been advised.

Thank you.

<If they are not, then I'd like Adobe to cut them off>

How exactly can Adobe cut them off?  I mean, if they're running rogue, they're doing their own thing,r right?  Piracy and fraud exists because people try to get something for much less than it's really worth.  You get what you pay for.

Send a charge back to your credit card company explaining why you're doing it.

If it's done within 30 days of purchase, your credit card will almost always take the customer's side and return your money.

Don't know about that website in particular, but generally when buying any software product it's a good idea to go with a familiar seller whose name you've heard of or trust, because there are far too many bogus scams out there...

As try67 posted above, if a vendor's name isn't on Adobe's authorized reseller list, then if you care about your money/license/computer, it's really best to avoid for these and other reasons.

I wouldn't condemn eBay so outrightly as the linked-to article does!

When this topic came up elsewhere on these forums I pointed out that I got my CS6 Suite on eBay and it is 100% Legitimate.

Here's my quoted reply to being told to avoid eBay at all costs and pointing out errors in that article:

Adobe does allow License Transfer and will provide support and does recognize you as the owner of the product (actually the owner of the license to use the product - nobody ever actually owns any software from adobe, no matter how they bought it!).

I know this to be true since I bought a used CS6 Master Suite on eBay and asked all those things of a support technician as soon as I got it while confirming it was a legal copy.

That article is 3rd party and not an Official statement from Adobe!

So it must be taken with equal quantities of salt as buying the products on eBay, or elsewhere.

Some of it is right - I can't get a refund!

But I am allowed to transfer this license if I ever am done with the product, and I can sell it to transfer it.

The article takes a quote from adobe that 90% of eBay type purchases are fake, then neglects to account for the legitimate 10%.

Very poor writing and research there.  I'd not take that article as 100% true.  Maybe 90%, just like adobe said, but don't think it applies to all purchases across the board!

The problem is because Adobe does not recognize these venues or purchases as legitimate... The reason is because they cannot vouch for any software sold through those places as being genuine. The same goes for sales from any other unauthorized resellers. So bottom line, an eBay 'proof-of-purchase' is simply not considered valid by the company. If you had heard otherwise, then unfortunately you were misinformed:

Invalid proof of purchase The following items do not qualify as proof of purchase: Receipts from purchases made on Internet auction sites, Receipts for a download that was not purchased from a legitimate reseller, Receipts showing a purchase price that is discounted more than 25% off for full retail or educational products, or more than 30% off for upgrade products, Receipts from an OEM version of an Adobe product ...

And, as that carefully-researched article pointed out, there are countless cases of where software "seemed" valid at purchase (and Adobe even confirmed it so), but those buyers later lost their serial numbers (and money) because they either were only term-based licenses that expired, or were later discovered to be fraudulent entirely (and invalidated).

Not to mention all the cases where such software installed onto customers' computers was also hacked with viruses or trojans and compromised their data and privacy.

It looks suspicious. I don't see them on Adobe's official resellers website (Adobe Partner Connection Portal ), and their prices seem a bit too good to be true ($375, which I'm not even sure is in USD or CAD, for Acrobat Pro DC instead of $450 USD on Adobe's website). BUYER BEWARE!
