This document was made from eight PDFs and then put together with the Combine PDFs feature. If you can get hold of any of the original PDFs, you can look in Properties to see what program was used to create them. I don't know if this will help, since it's been a few years.

Unrelated questions are best asked in a separate thread because other people search, but the key here is that Acrobat 4 does not support transparency. Acrobat 5 and later does. Both of those presets are set to Acrobat 5 by default, so you are good!

1. Excel (Best) Go to Page Setup > Fit to > 1 page wide by X pages tall 2. Acrobat Crop tool > drag crop area > double-click inside to get dialog to fine tune 3. Photoshop (Worst) Right-click tool in the options bar and Reset your Crop tool to its defaults. Try again.

Enter begins a new paragraph. Shift + Enter is a line break. Paragraph formatting is attached to a paragraph, so it does make a difference, especially if you have a first line indent, alignment, space above or below, etc. HTH!

The web will display images in jpeg, png, and gif, so you will also want to put it into a format that they can see it before downloading. (I don't use WordPress—only HTML and Dreamweaver—but the other answers sound good!)

If you want to make the patterns editable, they need to be in .ai format and / or .eps. Look at some of the vector images in Adobe Stock. Here is a screen shot of one, and you can see it is available in both .ai and .eps.

When you click on the text frame and open the Story Editor from the Edit menu, what do you see? Also, what is in the Layers panel for that spread?

Illustrator supports transparency. There should not be a white background unless you draw one or save to a format that does not support transparency. How are you saving it?

"Para style 1" and "Paragraph style 1" sound like generic names. Can you post a screen shot of your Paragraph Styles panel? Also the definition of one of the styles? If you are basing your styles on "Basic Paragraph", that could be causing the problem. Look at that definition as well.

If you expand it or outline it, you won't be able to edit it. Turning off Smart Guides works, as per Monika. So does locking the object. These two methods are non-destructive.

Look in your Channels panel. In this screen shot I have one channel targeted, but it is hidden. If I want to work on it, I need to click the eyeball to make it visible. If you don't see it, post a screenshot.

Once you know where the movie is going and what format you need, you can drag and drop the .mov file into Adobe Media Encoder, click a Preset, select a name and location, and convert the .mov file into another format by hitting the green play button.

Both of these answers are correct, by the way. Personally, I use Barb's method. Bringing photos in through Bridge does not put photos *into* Bridge; it puts them onto your hard drive. Using Bridge, you can batch rename them, view them, rank them, open them, delete the bad ones and much more. In addition, many computers have a slot where you can put your card from your camera (especially Macs). Or you can use a card reader. Or you can use a cable that connects from the camera to the USB port. It might be a mini USB. My current camera has a proprietary cable.

Also, why do you think you need to send an eps? Many consider it to be an obsolete format. Is your printer asking for it? Send the native AI and / or a PDF.

If you delete everything you "think" is bloat, you may find that software does not work as expected! One way I try to reduce bloat is I never copy a system to a new computer. I copy files, but I always to fresh installs of software so that anything that does not need to be there does not port over. I don't even copy my phone settings. When I sign in with my ID, my contacts, main mail account, iTunes, etc., come over. I install everything else.

Distiller is a 20 year old workflow that has been replaced by newer, better methods, but is still used occasionally in rare specialized instances. You probably don't need it.
