LrC does NOT upload originals to the cloud. Your hard drive filling up is a separate issue, LrC downloads any originals it finds in the cloud to a local drive. If you use Lightroom on your phone, those photos are in the cloud. LrC will then download them when sync is on. This is a great workflow if you understand it. Do not use Lightroom and LrC together on your computer. You will likely end up with duplicates.   Here are the basic steps you should follow: Put your photos on the SSD drive. You can manually copy them from the camera card. Import them into LrC with the import "add" method. (most likely you were using import "copy" which put all your photos in the Pictures folder and filled up your startup drive) Create Collections for photos that you want synced to the cloud. I just want to chime in here and say that I have been experiencing the exact same sync issues. Most recently, LrC showed it was trying to download metadata info for two images. This created a bottleneck for everything else trying to sync. On Lr web, those images said they were waiting for information from LrC from 4 months ago. This isn't possible because the day before the sync was up to date. I fixed the problem by deleting those two images from Lightroom. Yes, Lightroom can do this with some limitations. Most likely it is not the solution you need. First, employees will need to sign into a single account. Adobe limits two devices at a time be signed into a single account. You could work around this by using a mobile device, because there are no limits for mobile devices. You didn't see a way to view the sync issue photo on the web because it doesn't actually exist. I've had this happen several times with HDR and enhanced images. Those types of images are processed in the cloud before they are completely imported. Most likely the processing never completed, or you deleted the photo in Lightroom before it finished.  The sync error in the Lightroom app is caused by this missing photo that is still trying to sync. Delete the missing photo using Lightroom web, and your sync error in the Lightroom app should go away. ... View more

I don't know why it's not working in the Lightroom app. It should work the same as the browser. Perhaps you could try deleting fewer images at a time in the app. Make sure they move to the deleted folder before you quit out of the application, or before you delete more.
