You must have misunderstood. Applications don't "rewrite the OS kernel" or anything like that. I'm a former Mac Genius and this is not an application problem. You either have other software that DOES runs a kernel extension (hard drive software, anti-virus, whatever) or you have bad hardware. RAM speed doesn't cause crashes. Computers have a RAM spec and there is always a range of RAM with slightly different speeds that is compatible. You wouldn't ever know the difference. Since this doesn't happen to other people, there is something about your system that is different. I don't agree at all with the idea that Lightroom is for photographers and Bridge isn't. I'm a working pro who does product photography and Bridge is the better product for that. I also shoot landscapes and models and Lightroom works better for that work. Bridge has tighter integration with Photoshop and easier extensibility via scripting than Lightroom.
