This is driving me crazy! Take a look at the attached screenshot. The light blue block of color is obviously somewhat transparent. But if you look at the layers palette to the right, the opacity is at 100%. The blending mode is "normal." What else could be causing it to be transparent? Thanks!

I'm running InDesign 19.0.1 on my iMac... OS 13.6.1. As of today, it lets me open my file, but then when I try to do anything... it just quits. I've deleted the preferences. I uninstalled the program and re-installed it using Adobe Cloud. I restarted my computer. I've run out of ideas. What else can I do? Thanks! Update: I am now pretty sure this in only happening with one specific file. Other files I've tested aren't crashing. So... is there a way to save this one file? I did try saving it under a different name, but the issue keeps happening.

Hi all! I'm getting these weird red lines on my projects... they almost look like slices. I can't figure out how they got there... or how to get rid of them! Any ideas? Thanks! Update: I just figured out I can select them and delete them. But I'd still like to know what they are and how I must have accidently hit something that made them appear...

Hi all! I have to do this often, so I wondered if there was a way to streamline the process. Basically I get large a PDF magazine file. I need to export each page as a TIFF file, and have each page be named "1," "2," "3" etc. I cannot figure out how to do this. If I type in "1" when I export the PDF, each page is then named "1-Page 1" 1-Page 2" etc. I looked in preferences/settings, but I couldn't find where I can change this. I'm on a Mac running OS 13.4.1 and Acrobat 2023.003.20215. Thanks!

Sorry... it was a bit hard to explain. Yes, I'm copying from a new InDesign template. I update that with everything new as these reports change over time. Then when I pick up old reports (these are monthly or yearly studies, so I just pick up the old report and update it with new data), I just flow in the new data. I did mess with the various copy and paste options. At least the ones I know... same as what you listed). I have NOT tried preferences in clipboard handling. I'll go check that out. Hi all! Here's what I'm doing. I have reports set up with data... and tabs. I have paragraph styles for those... as some lines are headers, some lines are just the data, and some lines are averages. Well, we've added a new column. So I have a template I'm copying and pasting into older reports. Everything copies just fine... except the new column comes in with no tab at all (it IS in the new template, but it doesn't copy). How can I copy the text box and keep the paragraph styles... that include that new tab? Thanks! I'm running InDesign v 18.3 on my iMac running OS 13.4.1.

Hi there! I have a template I use over and over. Invariably, when I delete the old text (9 points) and paste in new text... it's the correct font, but it always shows up at 12 points. I tried removing all paragraph styles from the text box, but it's still happening. There are no character styles on the text box. What else can I try to make the text paste in at 9 points? I'm using InDesign 18.1 on my iMac running OS 13.4 Thanks!

Hi all! I'm not sure when this started, but it's relatively new (meaning it didn't used to do this). I'm importing a bunch of tiff files into a document. And every time I import one, a dialogue box shows up. Is there a way to turn this off? I can't find it in the preferences. I'm attaching a screenshot of the dialogue box. Thank you! PS I did search for the answer online, but didn't find it.

Thanks for the reply! I do have a secondary screen, but it's up and running just fine (and has been). But... I tried adding an adjustment using the adjustments panel (I've never used that before! LOL) and it worked just fine. So what does that mean? Weird. And no, I haven't tried resetting my preferences. I guess I should try that. Thanks again!

Hi all! I'm using Photoshop 24.1.1 on my iMac running OS Ventura 13.2.1. I'm having a weird problem with Photoshop. When I'm on the layers panel, and I click the icon at the bottom of that panel to add an adjustment layer, it does add it... I can see it in the layers. BUT... no secondary panel pops up where I can adjust the settings for that adjustment layer. What can I do about this? Let me know if I'm not explaining it well. Thanks.

Is there an easy way to make sure the overall width of my tables are the same? I know how to do each cell, but that would be tedius to go check that for 42 pages of tables I've created. I was given this document, and the table widths on each page vary. I'd like them to be standard. But I am not seeing how to find the overall width of a table without adding up each width of each cell. Thanks! Julie

I've tried all of your suggestions above, using both text and grep... and they are not making the existing registered trademark symbols superscripted. Weird. I'm using Arial as the font, so I'm sure it has this capability.

Hi all! I must not be using the correct search terms, but I can't figure out how to do this. I'm sure I have to be in the GREP section of the find/replace window. But beyond that... I can't figure this out. I have a file with a bunch of registered trademark symbols. I want to make all those symbols superscript. How can I do this using the find/replace function? Thanks so much! Yes, I had to take all the info in the Word file and put it into a different format. So the data and text were the same, but the sizing and layout was different. Good to know!

So after a lot of trial and error (which I unfortunately didn't write down), I was able to IMPORT the entire Word file into InDesign. I had to modify a lot of different things in the options when importing, but I finally got the entire thing to import. From there I was able to copy and paste the tables into my new InDesign file. It still required formatting, but not nearly as much as copying and pasting each cell separately.

ARGH! I'm so frustrated. I'm trying to copy data from a table in Word into a table in InDesign. I have the correct amount of rows and columns. But when I copy and paste it... it skips cells and I end up copying and moving the data around. It's taking me hours. I'm sure it's something to do with how the data was typed into the cells in Word. But no matter what I do to clean it up, it's not coming in cleanly. The tables are interspersed throught the document, so I can't really import them. Any tips on doing this more effeciently? Thank you!

Hi all! I'm building reports where we have a lot of consumer comments. They are listed at the end of the report. I want to highlight every other comments to make it easier to read. I have been doing this line by line... adding a paragraph style to each line... one with the text highlighted and one without. But my newest report has over 1000 comments... and this is tedius. How can I make this process automated... can I? I think I've seen this can be done, but I am apparently not using the correct search words, because I am not finding how to do it online. Thank you! (attached is a rough example of what I mean... but in real comments, some are many lines long, not just one)

Hi all! I'm pretty sure this can't be done, but I have a PDF form I designed for a client. She wants to be sure her clients don't share it with other people. Is there a way to prevent this? I can't imagine how that would work... but I thought I'd ask. Let me know if there are any questions you have that would help clarify what I'm asking. Thanks!

Hi all! I created a bunch of reports in InDesign. Each page has a table on it. Fast forward several months... I've been asked to update these tables with a total at the bottom of each table. No problem. I add the new bottom row to a table. But then I want a stroke between all the cells above this bottom line. I know how to do this. But what's annoying is that the little area where I am to click which stroke I want to modify keeps defaulting back to the outer strokes of the the table (see attached). It doesn't remember that I want only the interior horizontal line to be stroked... Is there a way to make it remember this is what I want? Can I make a style? Thanks!
