I have an Areca 8050T2 that i originally ran Raid5 but did get some throughput errors (ie although the Raid was fast, it was inconsistent and frames would be dropped) Switching it to Raid3 worked a treat. As for Raid0 - i have one PC with a couple of internals striped as Raid0, used for offline. Works great. It’s named ‘ScaryRaid’ to remind folks they’d better have a full backup of anything on there. Obviously if/when it does go down then we’ll be editing off the backup, probably on another machine, whilst the drives are replaced, but for speed/cost it’s unbeatable. ... Mostrar más

In the testing I’ve done (cc2017.0.2) neither open nor closed seem to work properly. SRT open captions import as SD size & D1/DV PAR, even when scaled up to frame size the edges are cropped. Updating the text in the captions window did not update the display (although it did update the marker on the caption clip & was correct if I exported the captions). SCC closed captions were limited to first few characters, and displayed with very wide kerning, although that may have been a fault with the stl generation. I’ve ended up using PNG files, which are easily manipulated in the timeline & edited (using the PNG editor that comes with Subbits, the subtitle generator I’m using). As we come close to final cut I’ll export an xml of the PNG layer and use Subbits or AE to regenerate the subtitles. I dont need closed captions, but should be able to generate those too once the film is locked. ... Mostrar más

Actually, in trying this out in the app, it only seems that the source & program panes prevent the 'Sequence zoom' working. So I'm going to try and muscle memory the shortcut I have for 'Project window' before using the zoom... Sync by sound should work - use camera labels to group the same camera on 1 track. May take a while to proces, plus different devices may record sound out of sync (so you’d have to slide clips on that track). if audio sync doesn’t work/takes too long, then use creation time of files to give you TOD timecode. In PP I think you can only modify the timecode for the source clip to 0 to get that functionality (like using aux TC in Avid). You can reset to file TC when done. Painful. Or, when you want to go to a timecode, use the shortcut to go to the start of the clip and then + the TC you are looking for Consider filing a feature request for Adobe (adobe.com/go/wish) to implement better timecode display, with a choice of what numeric entry  references (source/sequence/counter/aux etc) For example I’d like to be able to enter source, rather than sequence, timecodes for navigating selects sequences- as can be simply acheived in Avid. ... I’ve got multiple DNX encoding/ingesting presets depending on frame size and number of channels. Most used is 1920x1080 HD 8 channel which works for most (created from PP though). Some sources that are 0 or 1 audio channel I had to switch to ProRes as I couldn’t get DNX to work. We are missing a ‘pass through ‘ option for audio in AME & thus the presets. I have managed to resurrect 11.0.2 on my laptop by installing 11.0.4 from CC then copying the 11.0.2 folder in Applications from a backup (OSX) I’m only using it for — around, rather than real work, so I’ve no idea if I’ve introduced any instabilities. You missed out the version numbers in th .prproj file itself (from memory 2017.0.2 was 32, I think current version is 34). Dont tell anyone, or try this at home, but opening a later .prproj in a text editor and adjusting the version number does then allow backwards compatibility. But gawd knows what kind of corruption might lay in store for anyone foolish enough to try it ... Mostrar más
