Hi, a client of mine (PC user) told me that, among many .ai and pdf files I’ve sent her, there’s a particular one which appears to be pixelated both on screen and on print (I assume she uses the PDF). This font presented some compatibility issues, as I am a Mac user. We seemed to have solved these by having her send me the fon. I’ve naturally checked and retyped the text. This seems to be the only problem (the rest of the text in the same file seems fine). What could have happened?

Thanks for taking the time to help, Monika. I've written the fonts' names in the original post. I delivered the .ai containing the fonts. I don't know what OS is she using. I've sent her a test typing the fonts' names in the corresponding property box, and apparently this is working for her, even though my Illustrator marks them as not found in pink.

Hi, I need to deliver a fully functional file to a client. Her original file contained a couple of fonts HelveticaNeueLTStd Lt and HelveticaNeueLTStd Roman which my software never found. I worked with the typical Helvetica Neue and delivered the files this way, but now she can't see the actual fonts in my files. She says she is using an authorised and updated version of Illustrator. What is going on and how can I fix it?

Jane-e, I appreciate your disposition to help. I've shared screen shots in past discussions, so I'm familiar with the clicks which need to be done. I suppose this has to do with this site as I've shared a number of screen shots elsewhere in the past few days. There's no error message. It's a pity that this has completely drifted this particular discussion away from the original and important issue. By the way, I managed somehow to edit the filter. Someone told me that this is apparently a PS19 bug, which is of course not earning any points in my book. Thanks again for your kindness. Take care.

Hi, I need to import 150 pages into ID. I think it is impossible to do so from Pages so I already converted the document into Word. I have tried using the Place method, but I have no idea how to make the text display in the number of pages I need, at least not in a quick way. I can tell my alternative would be copy pasting each page, but I'd like to know if there's a better option. The document has a lot of footnotes too.

I don't understand why the browser won't upload the screen shots. Somehow I've done the editing. PS seemed to crash after opening another app and then going back. I did it without interrupting the process this time. It was displaying a window with an upload bar and the label “processing”, after which it was impossible to make it work.

Thanks, D, As Dave suggested, I've adjusted the scratch disk preference as you may see in the screenshot. But while this enhanced brush performance, it doesn't quite get rid of the lag. I assume there's still not enough scratch memory. Would another piece of hardware fix this? (other than, obviously, another computer)

Thank you, Dave, I've adjusted the scratch disk as you suggested. I've noticed a slight enhancement, but the brush still lags. Maybe none of the scratch disks currently available are enough to offer a better performance. Shall I get some extra hardware? I understand smoothing is only activated with mixer (blend) brushes, however this lag happens with every one at bigger sizes. As I suggested in my first entry, I'm at moment seriously doubtful my computer is built for doing this.

Yes, I wasn't really sure which preference to adjust, but I set a higher Ram usage (past the ideal indicated usage). I do work on RGB. The issue is precisely the resolution, because as Jimmazza mentioned, it seems to be too much for Ps to handle . I'm starting to think my computer might be defective. I wonder now if painting on a lower resolution and then pumping up the pixels once everything is finished could actually work. I always save my Ps files in an external disk. I'm very grateful for your help.

Thanks Jim, your answer is very useful. So... a book size format at a standard resolution is too much for Photoshop?? It really blows my mind. As you suggested, I've reduced the resolution up to 150 and it does work better although there's still some lag. How is it possible that an iPad app like Procreate would so ridiculously outperform an Adobe desktop app? Would it be a smart move to reduce the resolution as much as possible and, once the painting is finished, upgrade its size?
