After Effects assumes that te last manual comp length (not based on a video,) is the one that you want until you create a new manual comp length. There are times where this is handy..

I don't know if this would help you but if you double click on the clip in the Project Panel you can then click on the waveform button in the Source Monitor. to see the waveform in the Source Monitor.

If I'm understanding what you're saying correctly your new comp is shorter than you need it to be when importing a graphic. You may want to close this project, create a new one with the composition length you need. Close and then import the graphic again. Ae remembers the length of the last comp graphic which you created.

My workflow for taking videos off of my iPhone is to plug my phone into the computer with a lightning to us. Cable, locate the video on my phone and swipe up to get the file name. Then I have my computer search the phone for that file name. When found, drag the file to the pc.

Not as a preset in Pre Pro but you can save a project of the intro and import the project into other editing sessions. in After Effects you can create it as a MOGRT and then add it to your Premiere Pro Essential Graphics Presets..

Think that it is because you have a layer selected in the timeline and AE thinks that you're going to create a mask. Please deselect any layers in the timeline.
