you can keep them in one artboard. group each one. and drag it to that panel. or juse select the icon and hold option, drag it and it will work the same for addign them to the panel one at the time. name them. Next, when you edit the icons, you will noticed they update on the panel ... View more

And there is no one button or option you can select to do what you want to do. You will need to break out the pen tool and draw. use the word illustration if you want to sound more professional. If you want cartoon you will need to draw them. Same for illustrations. If you want to live trace it, you can, use the live trace feature. and see for yourself what happens. Do you expect the program to remove the watermark? if its there is for a reason, and you may be trying to use the image without concent. How can you loose quality on an image if you are changing it to a vector format. Do you know the difference between pixels and vector art?   In short. there is no cartoon button/filter/script that you can click/select to make a cartoon/illustration from an image. Live trace is as close as you can get without much effort. the other option is getting that pen tool out and draw over the image, and with 500 images, you will be clicking with the pen tool for a very very very long time.   ... IN5 does not have that feature for rollover effects. And, rollover does not work on a .pdf on mobile. HTML would be a better choice, but again that feature does not exist from the panel in indesign. Like i said, that feature may be a feature request. ... View more

.pdf files are NOT editable from indesign.   You can edit a pdf two ways: From Acrobat with the edit features If you have the sourcefiles (ex: indesign file with linked files and associated fonts)   You can use a third party product to open a .pdf in indesign. you will however have embedded images and no styles.  I did not know how to draw till i started art school. This takes time and investment. how many drawing classes have you taken so far? Your layouts will look way more professional if you work with Grids (working with grids cuts down time since you have a column system to follow and its more about "tetris" style layout.
