Type on a Path is used when you want the type to literally sit on the drawn path. For example, if I draw an S shape and I want the type to follow the shape, I would use Type on a Path. Or, if i create a circle and I want the type to be circular I would use Type on a Path. But in your example, you want type to fill an area whose boundaries are defined by four connected paths (top, right side, bottom, left side). This is NOT where we use Type on a Path. Clear? ... Just a quick comment to Bob's reply here about printing from JPGs. The problem is with the resolution of the JPG, not the JPG itself. The same applies to any other format as well. Printing from a TIFF or PSD, for example, will also look like crap with insufficient resolution. This is why it's important to keep an eye on your Links Info or Info panels. In this example I've placed the same JPG twice. In the top example, the photo has been scaled to 210% percent its original size. As a result, its Effective PPI (Pixels Per Inch) is only 114. In this version (below) the photo has been placed at 95% percent of its original size. Its Effective PPI is 252, which will print well. My last tip is to create a custom Preflight Profile to check for images below a specified resolution. Easy. Keep the sidebar as one frame, not two. Trust me. In the end this way is always better. To shorten the text at the bottom without using two separate frames you have a couple of options: Click into the text and choose the menu item Object > Text Frame Options > Inset Spacing. With the Preview box checked, increase the bottom inset only. Eventually your text will jump to the next frame. Using Bob's suggestion, you can even Auto-flow the text for each side of the spread. The key is to start with a blank facing-pages document. Make it longer than you think is needed, 300 pages, for example. Choose File > Place to load your text cursor with Recto text. Hold Shift and click your mouse on the first recto page (p3, e.g.) where you want your text to begin. The text will Auto-flow and add additional recto pages on the fly until done. To me this is so much easier than creating separate text frames and object frames. No grouping is needed afterward, and creating equal spacing or margins is always precise.
