Here's an article I wrote, "How Large Can I Print My Photo? Understanding, Displaying and Managing Print Resolution" that will give you some idea. Since the answer does come down to "it depends", ultimately a test print as JoeKostoss suggests is the best way to go. This was written before the Preserve Details method of enlargement came out, so you may be able to push it further than I suggest .

I have a similar issue - if I try to eject my external drive that LR references, I get a message that it can't be ejected because an app is using it. I have to close LR first.

I'm afraid I'm stumped then. If you go into Edit view on your phone, is the editing still not there? What happens if you share the photo from LR CC on your phone (for example, email it to yourself) - does it have your editing? After the editing disappears, if you open your iPad again is the editing still there or did it revert?

Lightroom language can be tricky - what do you mean when you say, "I go back to my Galaxy S7 Edge to export them to the phone"? Are you using the Share button in LR CC on your phone? Why are you trying to export? Or are you simply saying that you open LR CC on your phone after editing on your iPad, and you see the image - it shows the iPad edits for a sec and then reverts to unedited? Are you using the latest update to LR CC on your phone? Update in app store (Google Play Store on Android?)

Hi Ailia, On your main computer, go into Lightroom CC>Preferences (Mac) or Edit>Preferences (PC) and under Local Storage choose to store all originals locally. However, you can't choose to store them in your current Windows folders - LR CC will make its own date-based folder structure for the copies of your photos that it owns. If you want to manage your own files and folders, then consider Lightroom Classic. On your second computer, in Preferences>Local Storage set the photo cache size to 0%. (It still has to store some files, but this will keep it to a minimum.) 1. With caveats. 2. Yes - select the highest level folder in the Add Photos dialog - it will automatically import what's in all the subfolders. True that the folder name gets lost - create albums after import, or do import one folder at a time and in the Add Photos dialog choose to add the photos to an album. 3. No 4. In LR CC Desktop, the Info panel shows sync status for the selected photo. Clicking on the cloud in the top right: if it says "Synced and Backed Up" then everything in LR CC is synced to the cloud. I don't have a good answer for you since there's no filter with camera serial number. One option is to have each family member add their copyright into settings in Lightroom mobile. That is viewable on the Info tab in LRCC Desktop. However, there isn't a filter to pull all the photos together based on that field. Alternatively you could have your family members periodically select all their photos in LR mobile and add their name (or better yet "Laura Phone") as a keyword - that would be searchable... but they would have to remember to do that.

Another option to replace a color with one of your choice is to use the adjustment brush with -100 Saturation to remove the existing color along with the color of your choice from the Color square (right below the sliders).

I'm not a Behance user, John, but you are correct that the Behance Publish Service was taken out of Lightroom after Lightroom 5. I'd suggest putting those images you want to go to Behance in a collection and then exporting copies of all the images from the collection to a folder on your hard drive. Then you can upload all to Behance without having to search around. I don't know though if Behance has any batch uploading though. After upload you could then delete the exported copies from your hard drive.

Hi Marc, Type H to temporarily hide pin - then you can put another fix on top of the area. Then H again to reveal. That said, I know that the tool is limited.

Lightroom 5, 6 and Classic do allow you to click and drag to paint, Marc. I always paint with feather at 0 so that there are no issues with overlapping paint strokes, then I adjust feathering afterwards.

Generally at home I have my photos in master photos folder\year\shoot (date + description) folders. I used to have Classic put photos synced from my iPhone into this structure (set in Preferences on the LR CC Sync tab), but I didn't like how I would end up with tons of date folders with 1 or 2 photos in them. Now I have them all go into an iPhone Photos folder within my main 2018 images folder. I never close my main catalog and create a new one, and I recommend that most of my students don't (though I acknowledge that there are always exceptions to the rule, where it makes sense to.)

It's unfortunately very common to accidentally delete files, johnj84 - you are not alone. The typical scenario is where you are unaware that you have many photos selected in the grid. You want to delete one so you click in the thumbnail of that one, thinking that you are selecting it, then you hit the Delete key and choose Delete from Disk without reading the warning - because you have done this task so many times before. Unfortunately clicking in the thumbnail of the one didn't deselect all the others that you had selected. I therefore recommend to always click in the gray border around the thumbnail to select an image - this breaks apart any previous selection.

Those are the correct settings, Martyn, if you are selecting a profile in LR - but if in fact you don't have a profile available for your specific paper, then I agree with Jim - choose Managed by Printer in Lightroom's Print Job panel, and ICM in the printer driver manual adjustment.

Hi Martyn (?), I'm not convinced that turning off printer color intensity has turned off color management completely. Can you please provide screenshots of your printer driver settings? Also I would very strongly recommend purchasing a calibration device, such as a ColorMunki Display rather than using your laptop calibration feature. I don't feel that you need to upgrade your monitor to get correct prints (unless there really is something wrong with it.) Certainly there are other benefits of upgrading though.

This method of removing from the catalog and reimporting should only attempted if pick/reject flags, virtual copies, step-by-step edit history and membership in collections are not important to the user, since they would be lost. I realize that the grid screenshot from the OP shows that these photos have none of these, but other readers with the same issue may.

I don't know anything about the Print Studio Pro plugin, but be sure that you are selecting the printer/paper profile and then in the printer driver software, turning color management off. This is the most common cause of color mismatches. Otherwise, here are a few more: printer nozzles clogged evaluating the print under colored light (tungsten light bulbs, for example) your monitor isn't properly calibrated.

Your edits are still in the LR catalog, but the images are no longer connected to them. If you moved a whole folder of raw images, right-click on that folder (which will have a question mark), choose Find Missing Folder, and navigate to where it now is and select it. If it's just individual images that you moved, click on the exclamation mark in the top right of the thumbnail and choose Locate File, navigate to where it is, and check "Find Nearby Photos". (If you're on Mac, click on Options to access this.) Next time use the Folders panel in Lightroom to move your images. Here are two video tutorials - one on how to use the Folders panel to perform reorganization tasks, and one on missing files and folders.

Right-click on your highest level folder with a question mark and choose Find Missing Folder. Navigate to where this folder is on the drive and select it to tell LR where it is. If you're on Windows and the drive letter changed, you can set a permanent drive letter. For instructions, Google "how to set permanent drive letter in Windows (your version)".

Hi Dan, The high efficiency video coding format (HEVC) is not currently supported by Lightroom. Please let me know if you are in fact shooting this format (iOS Settings->Camera->Formats), and if so, try shooting and then importing in another one. Thank you.

Then your timing wasn't right - press and hold down Alt/Opt and while it is held down, click on the program icon in your Mac dock or double-click on the desktop shortcut. I realize that you're experienced with the Book module, but for the sake of thoroughness, make sure you have the photo on the page selected, not just the page.
