A couple important questions for those that are running into this problem: 1. Are the failures occurring trying to save to a local drive, external drive, both? 2. If the failures are occurring on an external drive, can you tell me what file system is on that drive? (Cmd-I on the volume and see if it says HFS+ or AFPS or ?) 3. Does it happen with all formats or just certain format you're trying to save to? Having this information will help us get this resolved asap. Thanks! Adam

To disable live blend modes, do the following: Use Notepad (Windows) or a text editor on Mac OS to create a plain text file (.txt). Can you simply launch Photoshop and let the OS sleep before it freezes, or do you actually have to do something in the application before letting the OS sleep?

This is the fix we have in-hand for now, but we may refine it in the future. To revert to the default configuration: Run the following command from the Terminal: defaults delete -g PhotoshopForceLegacyPaintMode Then remove Photoshop from System Preferences > Security > Accessibility

In Mac OS X navigate to \Applications\Utilities\Terminal - double click Terminal to launch it. Then enter the command: defaults write -g PhotoshopForceLegacyPaintMode -bool Yes Then be sure to go to System Preferences and add Photoshop CC 2019 to the list in Security > Accessibility

After applying the 20.0.1 update, you will need to do the following for macOS 10.14.1 (in order to mitigate the skinny cursor issue when using brush tools): You will need to run the following command from the Terminal app: defaults write -g PhotoshopForceLegacyPaintMode -bool Yes Then you have enable Photoshop in System Preferences > Security > Accessibility

Hi Daniel, Please go to the application folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019\Required\Plug-ins\Extensions\ And try renaming HalideBottlenecks.8bx by adding a '~' at the beginning of it. Once you have ~HalideBottlenecks.8bx, restart Photoshop and let me know if that helps with general performance issues on your system. If that doesn't help we'll move on to the next steps. Juan: have you tried disabling Rulers (cmd-R) if you have them showing? That seems to help with most of the reported cases.

Something I'd like you to try on a system that does have the spinning cursor/brush issue as another user reported that it helped... Go to Preferences > Performance > Graphics Processor Settings and click the Advanced Settings button. Try changing the drawing mode to Basic then quit and restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

Thanks. As far as we can tell, the brush/spinning wheel issue (and the Liquify one) is only affecting users on 10.14 (Mojave) and not older versions of Mac OS. A fix for the Liquify issue should be available shortly, however we're still in the process of trying to debug the brush issue.

Do you have any other applications running at the same time as PS when the brush tools slow down? You can check activity monitor to see if there are any other processes running on the machine using resources.

Hi Josh, I just checked both Mac and Windows and they're functioning as expected (draw a rectangular marquee > Image > Crop - image is cropped). Try resetting your preferences as I'm sure we didn't change this behavior. Thanks, Adam

One other thing that would be helpful for us to see is if there is any Console output occurring when you see the spinning (wait) cursor. To check, launch the Console app from Applications/Utilities and then watch the system log. Are there any notifications happening from either Photoshop or the Windows Server when the problem occurs?

Hi Juan, Select the Brush tool and turn smoothing off (should be set @ 10% by default) in the tool options bar. Then quit and restart PS. Is the healing brush still lagging? Also, your video card should work just fine with this (and previous versions) of Photoshop. Thanks, Adam

Hi Dennis, Can you try the following (suggested by another user): What finally fixed it for me was to delete the AAMUpdater folder and the OOBE folder in the C:\Users\[your user name\AppData\Local\Adobe folder. You may not be able to completely delete the AAMUpdater folder, as AAM is running. I then did a reinstall of the AAM, actually, since it was installed, and I just deleted part of it, It gave me an option to repair it, which I did. If you follow the above steps does it help with Photoshop performance on your new system? Thanks, Adam

One other data point to share: this only occurs on Monitors with a height of >1080 px. So if you're using a smaller, non-4K display you may never see this issue.

Benjamin's workaround is good as well: invoke the ACR preferences first, then the filter will work for that session (until you quit and restart PS). You could actually create an action that touches the ACR prefs and assign it a function key to simplify the keyboard commands. We should have another (better) workaround posted shortly. Thanks.
