I went to NLE school in Hollywood in the 90's. Their mantra was, "never touch the mouse." I rather like the fact that I need to touch the mouse much less in CS6, but this is my personal opinion and the way I was trained.

If you park on a marker, you can right click and clear that marker to delete it, or press Option+M. You can also clear all markers with Option+Command+M. Shift+M = next marker Shift+Command+M = previous marker. There were a number of changes to markers, and marker shortcuts in Premiere Pro CS6. The shuttle wheel has been removed from the Source and Program Monitors in Premiere Pro CS6. You can use JKL keyboard shortcuts to achieve the same thing. Press JK or KL to shuttle slowly. You can find a shuttle wheel in the Trim Monitor, if you really need it.

Yes, edit in ProRes. You can mix ProRes footage with your DSLR footage (ideally the same frame size and frame rate) on the timeline. Output to the export codec of your choice for output (H.264, MPEG-2, etc.) when you're done.

I would export all the formats you need from Media Encoder with a watch folder set up for each of the desired settings. You do not need an intermediate file on a Mac, for sure. Try these settings for Radial Shadow: from the Premiere Pro wiki Shadow color as desired Opacity 100% Projection Dim: start with 7; adjust to make border width as desired Softness: start with 0 or adjust as desired Render: as desired Shadow only unchecked Resize Layer: CHECKED You can also place a color matte behind the clip and upsize it to be slightly larger than the clip.

I can see the camera shake in your clips and it looks cool. Which effect in FCP are you using to achieve that? Is it the Earthquake effect? I know of no native camera shake effect in FCP (third party, yes). There is a stabilize function called SmoothCam in FCP but it does not add shake, it removes it. I would take this into AE and add use the Wiggle function on a camera or look into using DigiEffects Delirium's Simulate Camera effect right in Premiere Pro. I do this in After Effects usually. Just make a mask and feather the edges. You can fake the look in Premiere Pro CS5 by stacking up a Bevel Edges and Edge Feather effect, respectively. For Bevel Edges, set all parameters to zero. Adjust Edge Feather to taste, I start with around 25 to get a decent look. Here's what I came up with.
