Illustrator is a tool to be able to make the end product and if you start taking things away then you wont have all the functionality that you need to be able to create the designs. Illustrator is a professional application and requires a lot of skill and time to be able to use it to its full potential. Yes design is going in the direction of less is more but if you take away the complexity in the background of anything then you don't get the desired result in the final outcome. To make something simple it takes a lot of design and planning to make it work and work well. Maybe Adobe could come up with a light version for the novice but that would have to be a request to them..? Perhaps put in a request? Illustrator Feature Request/Bug Report Form ... View more

Totally agree with Test Screen Name the file depth will be 32 bit. I produced a file using the Export options, and... In windows you can check by right clicking on the file produced and going to details and it give you the bit depth in there, like so... I'm sure there has to be a similar way to check on a Mac..? Get info of the file...? I did however open the file in Photoshop and it did only show 8 bit, not sure why it does this but the file is definitely 32 bit. 32bit PNG = 8 bits red, 8 bits blue, 8 bits green, 8 bits alpha ... In windows if you hit Ctrl + Alt + [ or ] then you can cycle through the layers, so if this is for Mac then I'm sure there must be a way..? You could try something like Cmd + Option + [ or ] We need someone with a Mac to test..? It also doesn't appear in the keyboard shortcut list here... Default keyboard shortcuts for Illustrator would be good to get added to the list if indeed it works for both Windows and Mac. ... View more

What does it look like when you select outline view...? (Ctrl+Y / Cmd+Y) If you see all the outlines then there must be a way to unlock, they could be within a mask..? You can release by selecting and hitting Alt+ctrl+7 ... View more
