Absolutely, I'm glad for the features Photoshop has, don't get me wrong. It's still the nr. 1 program for most artists and photographers for a reason. And a lot of what they have done is amazing.  But I still think new features in or even the smallest bug requests to fix takes too much effort to get heard. I don't want to place each feature request and fight with claws and nails to get people to upvote them until eventually Adobe listens. Like the brush palette features that came in 2017 (folders etc), finally!, but that was a feature that hundreds had been crying out loud for for many many years - and you allready go plugins better than what adobe eventually made because people got tired of waiting. Same for color wheel, and same for smoothing brush stroke feature.... So yeah I'm really happy about what Photoshop is, but I wish features were added slightly faster and more bug and features reports were heard or at least discussed!!  Like this complaint about the uniform scale is a good example. Not a single voice from adobe, no arguments or reason or any hint that they care at all what people thinks. From my experience, they will never change this back! I agree, well said. Also don't forget Photoshop is used by many different professions. I'm a digital artist, I use it to paint - never photography. And in my profession this new transform change is annoying as well, and I can't see anything positive coming from getting used to it.  I wrote a looooong list myself of what improvements Photoshop actually need - in my frustration of the cc 2019 update which hardly can be called a v 0.1 update, imho. I wrote up features that would have been great and small improvements of current features that feels unfinished at the current stage. But I didn't bother to send it, because I feel that Adobe only listen to a minimum of requests and need 1000 people to stand up and scream before they even consider anything from the community....sadly.  ... I would not have mind the change if it was consistent. Every kind of layer, especially Smart layers. But also shapes and everything else. Because I don't see the logic in them scaling non uniform and bitmap layers and text scale uniform. Also for those of use that switch between illustrator and photoshop all day long, its a hassle to learn different muscle memory for every program.  But if Adobe had mad a consistent change across everything, I would have been positive to learn the new way. Honestly I can't imagine how the new transform is great for new users either. I tried once more to get used to it, spending a full day with the new transform. But because smart layers and shapes are not scaling uniform - I'm getting confused of the mixed behavior. I honestly still don't know which layers scale uniform or not, groups, multiple selections, smart layers, text layers, regular layers....It's a complete mess and I can't imagine anyone prefer it this way, unless one is completely rookie in the program.  I find it seriously provoking that Adobe can make such a stupid change and just keep ignore paying customers in threads like this that doesn't have a single good thing to say about the change. I have added the userpref.txt change, but it's still annoying nonetheless, because I do not understand the logic at all for doing this. And it completely contradicts  their very own argument for adding multiple undos, which were to unify the experience across Adobe programs.  Also now when doing free transform, the rotation boundingbox around corners are moved a lot closer, and that also breaks the user experience for no good reason. Before you could rotate the transform box wherever you have the cursor outside the box, now you need to be up close to the corners. The new uniform scale by default is nice, but its very hard to get used to when the program is full of inconsistency. Like transform bitmap is uniform, transform shape you need to hold ctrl+shift for it to scale the same way. Same goes for text, which is uniform, but smart objects are not....why?!? I expect this not to change. I suspect Adobe has the same mindset as apple, people doesn't know what they want more than us.  I think the whole reasoning Adobe has for doing this, is that they want Photoshop to be more user friendly for that tiny userbase that doesn't use a keyboard (i.e tablet only) - which they expect to grow, and probably scale will work this way on the iPad version of Photoshop.    I could live with this change IF it was consistent throughout the entire program. It's the poor implementation that makes it a horrible change.  Also, another thing that doesn't make sense to me AT ALL. At Adobe Max 2018 they bragged about this feature and the multiple undos. And the argument for making multiple undo's was to unify all the Adobe programs more, making undo's the same across every program (thank god they at least made an option to turn off this, I like my ctrl-shift-z for multiple undos). Yes, I agree with you Dennis. I would also like to know if the difference between scaling text layers, smart layers, shapes and regular layers were intentional. If so I would very much like to know the exact reason for this and what Adobe think it will help solving?!?  To me, I still sit with a question mark above my head of exactly what Photoshop CC 2019 brought to the table  that has made it a better than it was. Multiple Undos - all ready there (just forced changed the shortcut on us). Uniform scale was all ready there (just forced changed the shortcut). Color wheel is nice but too little and too late - we all ready got way better plugins for that. and any optimizations made to the program, I really cannot notice, in fact for me everything is just slightly more laggy (layers in particular).  If the adobe team need ideas on where to continue the development they should announce that...or was this just a good way to save a few bucks this year? ... I agree, this is pure stupidity. Especially when the whole change is added so poorly. You never know which kind of layers does what. Select multiple layers, how will it scale?, vectors, smart objects, fonts, its impossible to get used to how anything behaves. And the amazing thing also is that it change only to a few types of layers, and ONLY in Photoshop. It's either all in or nothing for such a change...I mean who comes up with these ideas? Indeed. basically modern high end computers increases cores because we seem to hit a cap on single core performance. And the more cores you add the lower single performance becomes (currently). And the adobes suite seem to take the biggest hit in performance of any program I can think of on lower clock speeds. Which is basically the reason for all of this. Unless adobe is able to catch up, people will need to stick with old gaming rigs solely for adobe work To get the best possible performance. I have a 1080ti card as well. And I wouldn't even consider switching to a quadro card to get the 10bpc support. Paying a lot more money for a card that performs worse in many scenarios, only to get ultra smooth gradients on those rare occasions you see banding, no thanks! And I'm a professional doing just fine. Don't make too much out of this! I'm sure even some thinks they have turned on 10bps and doesn't even know it's not actually showing in Open GL (ignorance is bliss). I'm not sure, but I would think its the same on Macs as well and you need the Mac Pro with FirePro or the iMac Pro with Radeon Pro to get it there as well. ... View more

And honestly, buying or not buying a quadro card and a monitor with 10bpc channel doesn't define you as in amateur camp or not. If you feel that the extra steps in colors are that important for your work, that's fine. But for most use cases you hardly notice it, and any image you save for the web or a video for digital use usually use the standard 16 million colors anyway - so recommending it as if this is something you MUST have to be a pro no matter what artistic line you are in is just plain wrong in my opinion. Both AE and PS you still see differences in 8-16 and 32 bits and you benefit from wide color gamut screens, and smooth gradients have default dithered transitions in photoshop as well, no point paying a ton of money for expensive hardware ONLY to see smooth gradients on the smallest spectrums of colors - Unless you do some very specific work that requires this. ... I have the ProArt PA329q. It has full adobe RGB support, but I never use it! And I work with print as well. The only reason why I buy good art monitors instead of gaming monitors etc, is because they usually have better color calibration out of the box and a more even light across the screen, so they are better for artist (higher quality). If I were to buy a new monitor today I would probably get the Dell Ultrasharp UP3216Q. Though if you are working with after effects, web and things that are meant for use on a computer or TV screen - they are shown in sRGB and Adobe RGB is pointless ... and you are probably good no matter what screen you buy as long as it has ok quality and color accuracy. Nice work on your showreel. For that kind of work, you will not need Adobe RGB at all, in fact I guarantee you that you will not use it even if your screen supports it. If you only work with video, not print, I wouldn't even consider Adobe RGB. sRGB and a screen that is well calibrated is what you need. There's even a debate if Adobe RGB is the best to use if you work with print (photoshop/illustrator/indesign), unless you really know what you are doing you are better of with sRGB there as well. I will probably get the equivalent of the current i9-7940X. so around the same core count as the threadripper, only with a turbo boost that actually works in programs. it seems the entire x family of intel processors today are scoring about the same single clock performance, no matter how many cores you buy, because of the turbo boost. Because on the chart they all have a lot lower base clock than 1950x, but still they all score much better on single core performance and they are all on average abou 10% slower than the 8700K in After Effects and other adobe programs (according to Puget Systems) - which is a lot less than Threadripper. The threadripper has about 30% slowdown compared to 8700K which is really noticeable actually, and weirdly enough it even do worse in after effects cinema 4d renders as well which are suppose to be fully multi threaded (so something is seriously wrong with AMD and adobe softwares). And since it seems Intel is really pushing those single threaded clock speeds these days, I'm expecting an even higher turbo boost on the next x serie. and best of all, then I can just swap out my current ram which didn't work with all sticks, with my old ram kit. Because I know my previous ram works with Intel, which are 128gb of 2666mhz quad channel. The current price of ram is so high, that buying this intel cpu and a new motherboard will cost me less than getting the 128 G.skill ram I considered for my threadripper....only drawback is that I need to take a day to reinstall my computer - and I will never buy AMD again, unless something groundbreaking happens with Adobes program optimizations. (as tragic as that sounds) But if you don't need all those cores or 128gb of ram, i9-9900K seems like the king to come for single threaded programs. ... View more

After this, you will have the powerplan in your power options in windows under the additional power settings menu after you restart your computer, among other things installed with the chipset drivers. ... Btw, I have decided myself too now to ditch the x399 platform. Instead of buying the 2950x and get new mediocre results in adobe programs I will wait for the new Intel X series, because they do a lot better in light threaded tasks - and I can get a decent core count as well. It won't be as good as 8700K in single core but close, no less than 10% drop in speed, compared to 1950x which is around 30% loss in speeds, even in multithreaded tasks in AE...go figure...guess someone at adobe is asleep. So I rather go for a new proven platform than keep experimenting with a new x399 chip and more memory troubles. ... View more
