Could you please show the screenshot of the Outline mode (Ctrl/Cmd + Y)? There you can see the real shapes, not disturbing by their appearance. If they are lines, it may be needed to check if they are in different groups and ungroup them. If, au contrary, they are other shapes (e.g. rectangles), then youwill have to move their edges to overlap each other and use Pathfinder/Unite. But in this last case you will need to convert all lines to shapes (or redraw these bottom lines as lines, not shapes).

Hi Veronica
1. There is not any patterns here. Do you mean shapes?
2. If you drew the smallest one first and then on each next step the bigger one, you see only the biggest one just because it overlaps all others. If you set the fill as None, you'll see all shapes. To see all shapes with their fills, change their arrange to have the biggest shape back and the smallest one front. Use Ctrl/Cmd+[ to move the shape backward and Ctrl/Cmd+] to move it forward.

Just have a question. You export the artwork as high-quality JPEG, but what about its resolution? The vector itself can't be pixelated, but converted to raster it extremely depends on the resolution settings.
Would be great if you could share a vector file for some experiments and say the exact export settings.

This hairline appears because two strokes are placed on each other with the same position, it's not a very good composition. There are some ways to solve the problem. For example, you can set the yellow (top) stroke as Centered and 40 px width like Met1 says. But I would try to remove all strokes, add a new blue fill, put it under the main yellow one, and add to them the Offset Path effect. Set the yellow offset as 20 px and the blue one as 21 px, and make sure that the Transform panel changes the strokes and effects. Without the strokes you will not get the stroke artifacts.

Proof Colors = Printing colors. By default, Printing is the process based on four inks (Cian, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black)). So if your desired printing process is based on some other ink set (e.g. hexachrome), you will not see the proper colors in the Proof Colors mode. And yes, Proof Setup (= Print colors setup) always will be primarily set as Working CMYK. It's its nature.

It looks like your document color mode is CMYK, not RGB. If you created it using the "Print" preset, it's surely so.
Check this: File > Document Color Mode. If it's CMYK, change it to RGB.
The issue is that when your Doc color mode does not match the Color Panel color space, it tries to harmonize the panel values with the doc mode.

in addition to Monica's great instruction, you can add some volume to your wire. In the Appearance panel add a new fill and set it as a Gray-White-Gray gradient with a "cross-line" direction. Set a Blend mode as Multiply.
Your wire will look some more natural 🙂

Do the files contain raster images? If yes, the effect may be caused by the difference of compression settings between client's and your file saving. I would try to check the Effective PPI of the raster images and set the same one in the PDF saving settings.

Your images look like a raster sketch, not a bezier image. Did you draw them with vector tools in Photoshop? If not, you just need to import the image in Illustrator as a reference and draw vectors using Illustrator's tools.
If you've drawn the shapes in Photoshop, you can export them as Paths to Illustrator and then add all needed attributes. No, export does not keep the effects due to different technical principles of Photoshop and Illustrator.
You can add and combine effects and overlays using the Appearance panel as Monica suggested. You can consider it as some analog of the Photoshop layer effects.
Yes, Illustrator works fine with Bezier splines. Yes, there is the Blend tool there. Yes, there are some different options for snapping, and you can adjust it as you need. Yes, there are some Photoshop effects which you can add to your object. But, just like in Photoshop, they will not create real 3d (as you talk about RHINOCEROS, you need finally some 3D object, yes?) For 3D you need to use the 3D and Materials panel. There you will find all usual options such as fillets, offset etc., and then you can export the 3d object in the needed exchanging format to open it in the needed 3DD soft.

I could not find the source of this pattern 🙂 But there is a workaround. select the object and in the Swatches panel choose "New swatch" (with the button or the menu item). Then the pattern appears in the Swatch panel, and you can edit it by double-clicking on the swatch or expanding the object to edit the particular unit.

Even if you did not select your shapes, the blue lines generally appear when you roll the mouse over the shape. That-s ok, it helps you see the shape's path. But if you mean the thin red line that Mike marked, yes, it must be a GPU artifact. Try to follow Muke's instructions and tell please what happens.

please, describe a bit more about what you want to get finally. Do you need the icon to be animated? Should it be a shape animation or just some small transformation? Will you increase the size of the icon by more than 5-10%? What's the reason to convert it into SVG? The best workflow depends on these things.

simplify the paths. PNG is a raster format, so when you scale it down, you lose information about the real shape, re-tracing will give you very rough shapes that look more or less good in small size but become really ugly if you scale them up even a little.

As far as I can see, there are no strokes. The problem is that there are too many extra small details and, yes, an enormous amount of anchor points. The paths need to be simplified.
