I had the same issue when trying to import movies on iOS, and it was frustrating. After multiple attempts, I realized it was a file format problem. Converting the files to MP4 solved it for me. Funny enough, I was working with movie script writers on a project, and this delay set us back a bit!         ... View more

@Rocketbottle , sorry, I'm not aware of any one stop shop video or site that covers everything for AE context. OCIO itself is not AE specific though and neither is ACES so I would encourage you to look up these topics in a broader way. I found the following links to be of great resource learning about color management and scene-referred workflows.   Christophe Brejon's website Filmlight's Color Management talk by Daniele Siragusano ACES Central forum where people are happy to help with any question including the folks behind ACES.     @dsol21 , did you encounter a scenario where this is the case? Log spaces are used often in compositing and grading, cameras also encode to 10 or 12bit integer log files so working in 16bit log should not really degrade the image unless 8bit effects are in the chain or you have some really extreme synthetic values in the source? I know this is old, but I just had the same issue.  When I clicked the 3d Renderer tab in Composition Settings and looked at the dropdown Renderer menu it just reset on its own. No idea how or why. I didn't even actually select or change anything. Try that or click the options button in the same Comp Settings and see if that works for future issues. Select the layer with the shot and perform a 3d Camera Solve on the shot. Once it's done select one of the tracking points and create a new camera and solid from the solve. Have a separate comp that contains your image or type and alt + drag to replace the newly created solid with your nested comp. Now your nested footage should be in the proper positioning to move around and frame it how you'd like.  ... View more

The advice on the thread is to use FFMPEG or one of its variants, like Shutter Encoder. Can you try a test there by creating a new file and see if your group can work with it? Have you saves the Project in the new version? It Will chance the name with the label "(Converted)", I always do that before the edition of an old file, because if not it always cause that error.
