I posted the below in another thread... However, I thought it deserved a thread of its own, so... How long this will last before being either:1/ Locked2/ Removed3/ Or whatever......is a moot point.Anyway, here's the content of that post:"You know, why do we even bother any longer? Maybe we should all just call it a day. That's what they seem to want. Those of us who still want to hang around in the product forums... do that. For the rest, this whole thing has become a joke. Between the bannings, locked threads, deleted posts... it's worse than a kindergarden. At least, in a kindergarden, if someone cries there's a helping hand. Here, it's the opposite. So, in all seriousness, maybe we should all call it a day and move on. Visit the individual product forums if we want... impart and absorb what we can... and leave it at that. 1. Browse Forums button doesn't work! I tried both Mozilla and Safari.2. While browsing the forums in advanced search window, Mozilla doesn't let me find the needed word by typing in the first letter. I have to go to Safari to do it.3. Since the list in the search window is so fuzzy, with no distinguished main themes (you can at least make them bold), without any clear alphabetic order, with all subthemes always expanded, it becomes really frustrating to find what you need!3. If I want to make an advanced search after while browsing the forums, I have to open a new search window, then select the needed forums again and again. Why is it so difficult to make the advanced search options expandable under the search button at all times? And to be able to remember the selection. Also if I am in a specific forum, I should have an immediate option to search that active forum without selecting it again from the list. That's how normal forums work.4. In Advanced search there should be an option

Adobe had a gold mine. Their product fora filled the gap that their outsourced T/S and C/S were no longer filling.Many users realized that there was a much greater liklihood that almost any problem, with any Adobe program, could be solved by the fora, and by the users. I have even recommended such for years, even back when Adobe T/S was a different animal.Now, as of Black Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, with the "maintenance" work, these fora are nearly useless. Many of us have lost the ability to use the "camera" icon to attach an image to a post. The "automatic" line break is a real problem. It now comes long after several lines of text have been typed, and is never where any editor would place it. The "block quotes," that only work every third, or fourth time, all contribute to users not wanting to bother with helping all the other users.This has become a very bad joke by Adobe. I am considering just giving up helping others, and letting them contact Adobe T/S for everything. Let all the use

Just in case anyone from Adobe thinks these forums are getting better, are more accepted now that all the knowledgeable regulars have been driven off and the community that existed has been destroyed. This Forum still sucks, its slow ugly and a huge space waster. The dialog in the forums has turned into a bunch of lazy people who can't be bothered to read the manual. All discussion about anything technical or advanced just doesn't exist. thanks Adobe.

I need to extract text from pdf file how to doit. Stundart adobe reader cannot do it?

I am having a problem with Encore not recognizing by DVD unit.One man here told me to check my Drive Numbers to see if they were in order. Here is mine:C:/ OSD:/ 2st internal hard drive (CS4 Work space)E:/ DVDF:/ 3nd internal hard drive (Storage/Backup)G:/ External hard drive (Storage/Backup)I realize they are not in order, but will these being out of order like this possibly make a difference with my problem?AND will it destroy anything if I assign new numbers to get them like this:C:/ OSD:/ 2st internal hard drive (CS4 Work space)E:/ 3nd internal hard drive (Storage/Backup)F:/ External hard drive (Storage/Backup)G:/ DVDI really do need to get my projects burnt on DVD dics.I have a file for my Cashes on F:/ so my C:/ does not get over ran. Over the past 15 years I've bought Adobe software under various accounts, now I need to consolidate all of my registered products into one account. Anyone know how this is done, and if possible?The reason I need to do this is that I want re-install GoLive CS2 and cannot find my upgrade serial in any of my product boxes, GoLive is installed from the CS2 package but cannot get any further without my PS 5.5 serial...Any ideas?

Does anyone know any other way to get Adobe Illustrator CS3 to launch. When I try to open it, it just freezes at the start of the scrolling of names in the Launch Box. Usually it would be a damaged font or something like that but I have no clue at this point. I tried the usual stuff like trashing the Adobe Illustrator prefs file, reloading the software package, stuff like that. I'm baffled. What I had to do is create another user on the same computer. That solved the problem with opening up Illustrator but I have to toggle back and forth from the "original" computer so to speak to the created "new" user. Why would the same Illustrator program be recognized on a "faked out" new user and not on the "original state" computer? The "original" computer has all of my main stuff & updates and all that. The "new" user computer only believes it's a non updated computer at this point. Like I had to fake the computer out to open Illustrator. Any thoughts? I can get around some tech issues but

Now that the Forums speed problem is solved for me, I'll ask a question I meant to ask since we changed to the Jive Forums.My post count was reset to zero when we switched to Jive" Clearspace. Is there a way for the Admins of these Forums to "recover" my real post count since 2002?I remember, I changed my screen name at that time to ReneG, would it have cause that?

OK, did the Poles flip, and I missed it? Was there an alignment of some planets, or something?I will not bore you with Adobe I.D. changes, or missing Log-Out buttons, as they have been covered in other threads.With those "changes" elsewhere, I have observed two oddities with the new, maintained forum. While typing, hard returns will be added at random. Also, the Block Quote works seldom, and one often has to try it several times, with deletions and pastes.During the course of last night (11-16-09) I also lost all but one Adobe registration - about 20+ going back decades. I assume that they are still around, though do not know where. Check yours. Are they all still in place? Filed a case with Adobe, and I expect all to be found. I do not understand what is going on over here. These are long time people. Who are you that is doing this? It can't be the Adobe I know and love.

Since the origninal post is locked, here are some remarks about the offered work arounds, plus some additional remarks:The stupid carriage returns are left in this message.Work around # 4 does not work, on the contrary, it makes it worse, often duplicating the code.Issue # 8 also applies to BMP and attach does not work, it gives the same error.Missing is that the 'Go to original message' works unreliably, if at all.The HTML view is effectively rendered useless with all the inserted code.

So disregard for immediate action, but I would like to know how we can post from RTF files or other formats than plain TXT files.

Trying to post here consistently Crashes Firefox 3.01 on Win XP, fyi.Crashes when this Rich Text Editor tries to load, or so it seems.

I read the forums in Thunderbird and last week I began getting lots of duplicate messages. Not all but most messages are appearing twice in my email reader but I've not seen anyone else report this. Is it because I'm the only one using Thunderbird?

Today I noticed in the Bridge and Photoshop forum that my first line of a response does a carriage return about a quarter the way across the page.  The first few times I thought I inadvertently hit the enter key.  But after it happened each time I decided that was not the case.Has anyone else experienced this?It did not happen on this Forum.Damm, had to retype as it gave me an error message on posting.Tripple damm, this is the 3rd attempt,  "unexplained error has occured", but still logged in.  But did a copy before posting and then paste this time.

I have noticed that when you tick Reply and the window opens, the cursor is blinking in the message body box right away, so you can just start writing.Until quite recently, you had to click there to get it out of the heading box.

My Preference is That I prefer to use my real Name as opposed to hiding behind my UserName. If I type something that either no good / or good I also want them to know who did it.  And also I want my email address availble as well. I know how to take measures against spam and Phishing.When originally set up we could go into Profile prefeences and choose to allow name and email address.  We still can  the problem is it doesn't stick. My understanding from JVD (I am not quoting him), is this new upgrade caused everyone's account to use Username, and though you can go in and set. When  a certain server kicks (I suppose after you have quit Session then come back to read again) That it defaults back.Is this a Bug? Or is this a new policy. IF a Bug, I'd like it fixed. It my account and I'd like to customize it any way I want to.

Lately I’ve noticed images scaled up in forum comments and 8-bit masks for scaled PNGs don’t work in Safari or Firefox. Clearly Adobe’s usual bang-up job of “improving” software is now being applied to the already crappy forums.[edited for content] Message was edited by jochemd
