I love the response by e-mail feature (mainly because I don't need to open the actual forums and log-in in order to write a simple response...), but it seems that it causes some privacy issues.Many people have in their signatures full contact details, including telephone numbers, addresses and e-mail addresses, and these get posted on the forums when they respond via e-mail.For example: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/508638?tstart=0Another thing that happens from time to time is that people don't realize they are responding to a public forum and post personal messages to other participants.Also, although more rarely, some people have their auto-away responses turned on, so for each post on the forum there's a "I'm not available right now..." post from that person.Maybe there should be a more clear indication in the email sent by the forums about what happens when you respond to it, as well as a warning against posting personal information...

Can anyone tell me if Adobe CS4 will run on my powerbook G4 which contains a G4 processor? I know it is designed to be used with a G5 processor, but does this mean that I have to purchase a new Mac in order to run the Adobe software?

I have asked a question a few days ago about Elements 8 and clicked answer by email. I clicked it again to turn it off but I keep getting more emails it does not turn off.I keep getting more emails every day about everything .Help

Hello, what is the difference between virtual machine and physical machine?(AND)how can i identify whether my application is running in a Virtual Machine or not?(AND)how can i get all the VMs from a physical host ?(AND)how can i differentiate physical OS and Virtual Machine OS(AND)can identify current machine is a Virtual machine ?because i created license based on IP ADDRESSBut now using Virtual machine server users creating the VM image ie the copy of whole Product and using itin this condition both of them having same ip address and using the same License .i cant differentiate IP addressSo i need to identify another condition and based on that i have to create license.Please give me some ideaThanks in advancePortia

Hi,I know this must sound crazy, but I need to find a needle in a haystack -- in the summer of 2000 I posted on the Adobe Premiere Mac forums - it was a method of remapping the keyboard in Premiere 5.1c.  I'm pretty sure my screen name was "Graham Jones" -- I had over 600 posts.  It's possible it was "GrahamAJones" but I don't think so.Does anyone know how I can retrieve a copy of that post and/or thread?If it helps in searching, it talked about modifying the "keyboard.txt" file.It's a long story, but I need evidence of that post for my green card application, and I am stumped without it.Thanks,Graham Jones.

Gosh, it seems like there are a number of us who got reported.  I'm amazed, really, as I haver *never* been reported for abuse in the 10 years I have been on this forum.  Yeah, these forums have changed and I am not convinced it's for the better.

It was a discussion on how best to help people who wander in here by mistake or ignorance or whatever. It is possible that a continuation of the thread would have led to some kind of consensus, amongst some fairly knowledgeable people, as to how to deal with the problem. This is, after all, a problem that deal with the Adobe forum in general as well as this Forum in particular.I suspect that Mr van Dieten is taking a rather narrow perspective on the name. When this forum was dubbed Forum comments, i doubt very much that it was meant to apply only to this forum. After all, why create a forum to just comment on yourself? It was meant to comment on the forums in general. Probably the name should have been "Forums Comments"

Hi there,First post here, but basically looking to control our machine within our corporate network environment. As we are in the process of doing many things, one will be strict control of internet connection and wondering if Adobe provide the facility to upload to a central repo server and can distribute in a controlled manner, i.e, a bit like a WSUS server does Windows updates?Can anyone out there help?Thanks in advance.Alex

A while ago I had to log in. After entering my user name and password and clicking to proceed, I received the following error message:However, my avatar and correct name in the Welcome message seem to indicate that this user had been found, and even logged in! I don't remember on what I clicked after reading this message, but I found that I had indeed been logged in, and everything was working normally.Has anyone else experienced this?

Where are the archives of the old (before current version) Adobe forums? I am looking for posts from around 2 years ago that were either in the InDesign or InDesign Scripting forums. I desperately need some script code that someone provided me (that was lost with a system reformat). I have posted a request regarding it in the Scripting forum, but haven't gotten a response yet.I was hoping that the archives of the old forums are available someplace so that I could search for it.Thanks.

I am switching macs and want to take my version of CS4 onto my new MBP. However, I have lost the email adobe sent with my serial number and wondered if it could be located somewhere on my system (the serial, not the email)?

I was replying to a post and noted the edit window scrolling left to right.  I checked my screen resolution and noted that my children had lowered it to 1024x768 from my usual 1280x1024.Why doesn't the edit window scale itself to the screen resolution?  Either that or make it less wide to accomodate the not so small size of 1024x768 for those users whose eyes are not what they used to be.  Does this happen to anyone else, or am I alone in my experience?hopper

I have just noticed that asking to be taken to the last message of a thread takes one to the last edited post, not to the last posted message. Also, the edited message shows its original time in the list, but the date and time of the last edit when open.Has it always been like this, or has a recent change been made? I ask because I don't recall having observed this before (which doesn't really mean much). And, regardless of whether this is a recent change or it has always been like this, I find it very confusing. Perhaps marking a message as edited should be automatic, and not voluntary as it is today?I am thinking, for example, of the automatic addition at the end of a message of a note saying "Last edited by (name of the author or host/moderator) on (date and time)". The reason for the edit would be added only if voluntarily added by the person who did it. The new forums design is running for quite a while already, but I still don't understand how the search function could pass quality testing and has not been updated, yet. Did that department sleep? I'm in the Photoshop forum for example and I want to search this forum. To do this I first have to to do an overall search, then go to more options, and then scroll painfully to a list of 100+ entries that I have to view through a small tiny window. I'm sorry to say that, but this is absolute crap. What's the problem? Why can't Adobe implement a "search this forum" option or at least make the listbox for the forum selection larger? I do not expect something like this from Adobe! When will this finally change? This is really frustrating.Marcus

Because of the formidable unhospitable format of these forums, it is now taking over 30 days to build up the courage to attempt logging on to these forums. The problem is knowing that a discussion is not possible because of not being able to track the stopping point of the last attempted discussion. I realize this will not be a problem for forum hosts, as they do not need to track continuity of thought. Also, to help forum management, there should have been a greatly reduced number of participants here since the Jive forum format has been introduced.I'm wondering what the purpose of the "Remember Me'" checkbox is, since the forum forgets who I am every time I log out, requiring me to log back in manually anyway.Too bad the old forums are gone.

There have been several threads in the Photoshop Lounge that have been getting "stuck". On the main page it shows they were updated, but when you go into the thread it shows older posts. It takes several 5-10 posts in that thread for it to finally stop locking up and work correctly.It was just a random few threads, but I have noticed several within the last few days. Needs to be looked into.

What is the logic behind removing the name "user to user forums" to just "forums"

Hi,I have two problems regarding PSE and Adobe Customer Service. First things first :1. When I try to run successfully installed software I receive this error:and I don't know what to do next. Im trying to run it on Leopard Snow.2. I bought software from shop on adobe.com and when contacted with polish Adobe division (country I'm from) I was denied any customer assistance (even when they checked that this software is legit). They claim that I can only contact with american division. Is that right? I'm pretty much sure that I have right to call to the nearest customer service and ask for help - but maybe Im wrong. Just wanted to ask if it was legal to install Adobe Design Suite on my friends PC? I have the student edition of Adobe Design Suite CS4 and im not sure how many times i am allowed to install it for myself let alone for another person. She is also a valid student and holds a student card. Obviously i didn't pay a lot of money for it to run out of licence uses so i don't want to go over my own amount if i do a reboot for instance. The Microsoft office student edition only has 3 licence uses as an example.Any replies are already well thanked.James

The first thread on this matter seems to have been deleted, presumeably by Mr. van DietenIt is my assertion that Jochem van Dieten has abused his moderator's priveledges by innappropriately deleting threads and posts with which he does not agree. He has been rude not only to some of the more 'curmudgeonly' forum members, but also to those whom are not troublesome (Claudio, 'GreenJumpyOne' are two that spring to mind). He has been arbitrary-seeming in many of his decisions as moderator; he has shown himself hostile, uncooperative and on occasion childish. He has not, seemingly, been held to account for his reprehensible, unprofessional conduct, and is (IMO) a disgrace to Adobe Corp. He has no 'people skills' and is thus an exceptionally bad choice for the position of moderator.If you agree, please say so. Hey guys,Quick question: In all of these tutorial video's I'm watching, whenever they switch between Illustrator and InDesign or any other programs, a window pops up on their screen that shows the icons of (I'm guessing) the open programs they have up. Does anyone know what this is, or how to get it? I use dual monitors and while I can alt+tab np, the icons are a bit small and I sometimes have up 2-3 adobe programs + firefox + some MS office programs... it would be nice to have something like what I see in the video's. Thanks guys.
