What a way to encourage the wisest and most helpful people to contribute! Give them an extra little red box under their name every so often! Brilliant! So, how many experience points does my character need before I reach level 2? Are there other achievements? Do we get a gold star at 500 posts? If we get 5 red boxes can we get to teh elite boards, where there are no newbs?
... who cares? Why not links to related forums? It's a pain in the arse getting, eg, from Golive to WebDesign. And lose, please, that useless 'More Like Box'. In fact we still don't need the right column - there's plenty of wasted space up top. wWho needs to 'Browse' all people or all discussions? Stick the related links up there in a menu.Or put them in the Overview tab, but rename it so we know what it's for.
How do I search just one forum? I didn't see the answer in the FAQ. I'm trying to see if I can change the desktop colors of my new PPro CS4 back to how it looked in CS2. I think CS4 is too dark and hard to see...and is it just me, or is this new forum really, really slow?
Are old posts like this that are full of embedded HTML eventually going to be normalized? There are quite a few of them floating around--maybe people posting in from the news servers in the past?
How do you log out of a forum? Is it at all possible?Seems I am logged in to any forum I go to if I switch between different ones, even ones I never previously used to be a member of. So am I now a member of all existing forums just because I logged in?I've actually been a member of several Adobe forums since 2002, but today they all consider me a new member who only joined today and gave me a screenname I haven't used for quite some time. Not funny.
Do you remember when the comments forum was just Spam, Speed and Spanish?Happy Days!

Hi:I have some questions about the new forum redesign:1) Why is the Author on the left, instead of the Subject? Which is more important to quickly scan first, the subject or the author?2) Why does the page not remember that I want to show 50 items at a time?3) Why is a convention about the scripting language not enforced in the Subject? For example, "Mark this thread as [AS], [JS]" etc, as it is for "Mark this thread as a Question"?4) Why am I asked where I want the new thread to go? I'm in the InDesign Scripting area.5) Why am I by default receiving emails of threads? Why don't you have people opt in?6) Why is my login not remembered, when I specifically clicked the "Remember Me" checkbox? Thanks, egr
I would like to delete my forum profile, but don't know how. How do I do so?
I tried to respond to some posts earlier today (on the road) and discovered that I cannot create a response from an iPhone. I have no ides if the problem lies with the iPhone of with the Jive software. Let's just say I suspect the problem is with the Jive software. Is the response 'box' Flash code by any chance?
I always found the dw forum community to be enormously helpful and very easy to useIn contrast these web forums are a pain in the xxxxBring them back or lose another user
I need to create a short training video on how to use our company's On-Line Ordering system we have recently developed. It would basically record a trip thru our shopping cart with our voice adding commentary to the process. What Adobe program would be quickest and easiest to work with for something like this?I'd be posting the video on our site for visitors to view if they need help. Thanks!Barry
After four days of using the new Jive forums, I've come to the conclusion that I have dedicated about three times the usual amount of time to the Adobe forums and have accomplished less than one tenth of what I used to do in a similar amount of time. This works out to a ratio of 30 to 1 in terms of how much better the old forum format performed in comparison to what we've ended up with here so far.I'm basing this calculation on the number of hours spent here since last Sunday versus the few satisfying threads I have been able to read as well as the remarkably little assistance I've been able to give. These results are naturally somewhat skewed by such things as the proportionally inordinate amount of time spent in the Forum Comments forum as well as reading and commenting on forum complaints on the other forums I've visited, to wit: Photoshop Macintosh, Bridge Macintosh, Camera Raw, DNG, Color Management, Photography, Typography, Type, Illustrator, InDesign and this Forum Co
why is that? weird. speeeel [sic] checker in firefox should show up with a red underline when i'm typing input and misspell something. this is just a <textarea> so i don't see why it should be disabled. anything you guys can do to fix it?thanks, dave
Hi,I am an admin of 80 Workstation and I would like to request an Adobe Update Server like WSUS from Microsoft or SAP Installation Server. Adobe release a lot of Updates and sometimes they are critical such as for the Adobe Reader. So i must walk to all 80 Workstation and install the Update manually. Thats time intensive and the Workstation are not secure until i install the Update. To use the Update function of the Products is no opinion because when every workstation download only the Photoshop CS4 Update i have about 8 GB internet traffic.Adobe develop a lot of wonderful Products and when they develop an Adobe Update Server all Admin in the World can update their Products promtly and all Products would be save. And nobody can use a security hole to get control over the workstation. The Admins can save a lot of time with such a Server. And time is MoneyDear Dusselritter
If I click on "Next" at the top or bottom of the page containing the list of threads, nothing happens. This is for FireFox and IE8. This happens frequently but more often in IE8. The status line at the bottom of IE8 says "error on page".Steve
Just testing and reconfiguring scripts and Adblock.
Well, here is a screen capture of the problem...
During the trial period I complained of several things. In no particular order, and without trying to be exhaustive:1. No visible way of going to the last message (I was tought a trick that works, but it wasn't known by many). Now there is a button for this. Solved.2. Problem with people like myself who refuse to use an email address as their Adobe ID, and the forum software trying unsuccessfully to email us to whatever we used as our ID. As I have now been receiving emails reporting answers to some of my posts, I guess it must have also been solved.3. Login problems differently affecting mt desktop Mac and my Vista laptop: in one or both I remained logged even after shutdowns, while in the other or both I was logged out after indeterminate periods of inactivity, all this changing erratically in time. Now I remained logged on both machines after their nightly shutdown. So, at least for the time being, solved.4. Problem affecting the Spain forum in my Mac/Firefox - Last Post column not
First of all I'm grateful that we can now embed movies but there are a few problems. First, you can't use Safari because the select a video site portion is blank. Click on the selectors and nothing happens.Second, You can't embed movies from your own site. It looks like only the big 5 sites are permitted. I have a bunch of samples and tutorials stored on my site that I'l love to be able to embed. I can create a link, but I can't embed. Even if I edit in html and put in all of the acceptable code, an embedded movie gets renamed to a flash movie and the whole thing seems to be broken. I have not tried re-encoding my samples as flash movies so I don't know if that's the fix.One last gripe, this one on links. If you select target=blank it doesn't seem to work. You still get the link popping up in the current browser window. It seems like most other html code is working, but this one is broken for sure.
Come on now. I was astonished to find out the f r i g g i n was considered profanity by adobe. But what about b u c k e t? Isn't that the name of a tool in some of the Adobe programs.Step 3: Use the paint bucket to add a new color.Really smooth, isn't it.Don
When I am reading posts in one forum, say this one, and then I want to visit another forum, what is the best way to do that? It seems that a drop list of forums would be useful, but alas, it's not there. There is the breadcrumb trail above, but when I click on the one that would make sense to click on (in this case the one that says "Adobe General Forums") I get a curious message about not being able to start a discussion. Why is that? To move from this forum to the Dreamweaver forum, I have to go all the way out to the list of Adobe forums, and come back in. In the case of this forum, that's really expected, since there are no real subforums (at least none that I am interested in), but for the Dreamweaver forums, there are several subforums that I visit, and I'm looking for a quicker/easier way to do that. What am I missing?
Often, I'll navigate to one of the forums' thread index pages, and while it slowly loads I'll be scanning the topic list. As I do this, it's a habit for me to begin scrolling down (with my mouse wheel, natch) to continue scanning the threads below the bottom threshhold of my browser window's display.Quite often when I do that, the page moves up as expected, but all of the content in the "Discussions" wrapper disappears until the loading process catches up. That means I have to wait even longer to get a look at that stuff lower on the page. This is another thing that slows down the process of getting in and getting things done quickly.Anybody else seeing this? Here's what it looks like when it happens:
