Hi, Last year I built a new system for editing 1080p video using Premier Pro & Encore CS6 as follows gigabyte ga-b85m-ds3h-a intel i7-4790k 4GHz 16GB ddr3 1333MHz Corsair cx v2 500w psu Onboard Intel 5000 graphics 1GB It is not overclocked, I have tried changing it in the BIOS to 4.2 or 4.3GHz but it still stays at 4GHz, is this some weird motherboard issue? But it is actually rendering slightly slower than the older i7 we have i7-3770 3.4GHz 16GB DDR3 Nvidia GT640 2GB graphics card So the only real difference is the graphics card, but will that old graphics card really make any difference? But coming onto the main question, what graphics card should I get for the i7-4790k machine that will have the most impact without spending a fortune? Also I'm guessing it will need a new power supply as well Would we see better performance if we upgraded to CC2015? If so would that need a different graphics card? I was hoping that the powers that be could eventually benchmark the RX 480 vs the GTX 1070/1080 in Premiere CC.Linus TechTips made a video that basically showed at a certain point it didn't matter if you had an AMD or Nvidia card, contrary to popular belief, as long as you had a mid-range videocard with >2GB VRAM you'd be fine. Performance increases above that were negligible. I'm curious if this changes at all with new GPU architectures, as I'd much rather buy an 8GB Polaris for $229 than a $400 1070 like I was planning.Hopefully someone can make this happen.

Hi!I finished my new PC, with i7 6700K and 30bit monitor. The only thing I have to buy is the video card.My question is: do the new gtx 1060 videocards support 10bit output in photoshop? I know that PS doesn't make intensive use of GPU, so I don't want to spend much money for Quadro series. On nvidia site, they acclaim that all new GTX 10x0 cards support 10 bit mode.Anybody has tried it?

Hi all,I recently installed a GeForce GTX 1070 videocard and current drivers into my editing rig, excited for the potential leap in rendering and playback (I was previously using a very old ASUS Radeon HD 7850). I have had nothing but problems since.When I first tried opening a Premiere project, the audio refused to play (speakers, headphones, everything...I looked at the volume mixer while playing through the timeline and no audio was showing up). Everything else seemed fine. I closed, cleared the cache, opened Premiere again, this time holding down Alt while doing so to reset the preferences. Opened fine, audio played back fine, only now Premiere was stuck endlessly generating PEK files for a short audio clip in the project.After a very long bit of troubleshooting across the forums, I went ahead and did a full uninstall of Premiere Pro and After Effects, then reinstalled both programs to their current versions (2015.4 and 2015.3, respectively). Hi all,I am building a new pc ( after 7 years..yippy! ) and i need to know some facts about adobe.I can only afford to buy 2 SSD hard drives, (240 gig each)To get MAX performance, i was planning to use 1 drive for my 5D & Red footageand the other SSD drive for adobe cache disk.My concern is, does Premiere need to be operating on an SSD also?For example, my c drive. If I made that a SSD, would premiere work better or is it the drives that the footage is on that counts?2nd, MEMORY & CUDAI plan to use 16 gigs of ram and a gtx 570 (480 cudas)With this system, will this be enough to "rip thru" and footage in real time?Thanks,Lou

Hello!I am having trouble editing 4K-material. I experience constant freezes and lags during editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. My PC setup:Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bitIntel i7 4770k 3,5ghz16gb ramNVIDIA Geforce GTX 660Samsung SSD 840I am filming with the GH4. Neither the CPU, GPU, Ram or hard drive seem to indicate any extraordinary high usage during editing. For short moments the editing works sometimes. 4K-playback with MPC works flawlessly. 1080p-editing is just fine. Editing in lower resolution (1/4, 1/8..) seem to make no difference. Same problem when using CS6. I tried both GPU and software-settings. All files and Adobe-cache are on the SSD-file. Should I have a second SSD-disc? Is my GPU not up to snuff? Any help or clues would be appreciated.

I will be heading to college in September and wish to buy a new laptop and install creative suite production premium on it. I need a computer which will run fairly smoothly with production premium  but possibly more importantly I need a computer which will last me my four years of undergraduate. My college offers special deals on apple and dell computers so I'm strongly considering buying a laptop from those brands but am willing to purchase my computer from another company if it's clear that the laptop would be longer lasting/good with production premium. Adobe has on its website the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5: System RequirementsUnfortunately, this overview is severely lacking in realism and a lot of people were disappointed when their system met these minimum requirements, but still would not do what they expected, or at least not without jerkiness, hiccups and similar issues.The problem with these requirements as stated is that they are really bare minimum requirements to install the software, but unfortunately it does not tell how well a certain system will perform with the myriad of codecs used and the different needs and expectations people may have about their editing rig. GTX Titan Superclocked now running in OS X 10.8.3 using the latest NVIDIA Web Driver (313.01.01f03) and CUDA Driver Version 5.0.59.I've modified both the "cuda_supported_cards.txt" file for Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.2) and the "raytracer_supported_cards.txt" file for After Effects CS 6 (11.0.2) to include the "GeForce GTX TITAN."Premiere recognizes the card fine and is able to leverage the Titan for it's Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA). However, After Effects reports the following error when starting up:After Effects error: Ray-traced 3D: Initial shader compile failed (5070 :: 0)Mylenium discusses the error in detail here:http://myleniumerrors.com/2013/01/06/5070-0-3/Removing the "GeForce GTX TITAN" from the "raytracer_supported_cards.txt" file resolves the error message, however, this obviously renders the Titan useless for any ray-traced acceleration using the Titan.Any thoughts on why After Effects is reporting this error (even though Premiere is capable of enabling CUDA

Hi,I'm building a new computer for basic 4K video editing, and am stuck on whether to go with a 5820K or a 6700K. I prefer the latter if the performance difference won't be too great, due to the lower power / cooler running of Skylake, plus the Z170's newer tech (not a huge difference, but things like native USB 3.1 and M.2 support feel good). However, the current supply shortage has made me antsy, and I've begun to wonder whether I should go with Haswell-E or not.The main things I'd like to improve over my current system (i7-920, 12GB RAM -- 6+ years old) are:1. Warp Stabilizer speed (super slow on my current machine, and sometimes I have nothing else to do so just have to wait);2. Rendering (either in AE, or AME);3. Faster preview framerates without creating proxies (now they're about 1 or 2fps).I would probably moderately OC both: the 5820K to around 4 GHz, and the 6700K to around 4.5GHz. The system will have 32GB RAM. For GPU, I was thinking of using the built-in one with the 6700K

I'm on a "gaming" Win laptop using one of the latest nVidia GPU's, the GTX 880M. Being new--year old really new?--, I had to add it to the list contained in cuda_supported_cards.txt for Pr, AE and AME. With the newest CC 2014 update, these .txt files are no longer present in their respective program folders.Does this mean that the programs no longer differentiate? If they see CUDA cores they enable the acceleration? Or does this mean they stopped the end-user from by-passing their filters? How to verify if I'm getting the acceleration? I recall having the feature greyed out in previous versions of these programs if I hadn't yet edited the list, and at the moment they are not greyed out despite not having found a list to edit.I've searched for mention of this change in newest version but have yet found a discussion.Thanks in advance,Andrew

Guess what is new in Premiere CC 2014 8.1 release?No more "cuda_supported_cards.txt" or "opencl_supported_cards.txt" files!Both this laptop and my main editing computer with so called "unsupported" GPU's (GTX 765M and GTX970) are working fine and even opening an older CS6 project I did not get the "unsupported" message.  I believe it did come up initially and I just breezed by it but now opening a third older CS6 project that had a much older GPU when it was last opened did not give me the message.  Evidently, once Premiere 8.1.0.81 learns that it is a hardware accelerated usable GPU never asks you again.  I further tried installing a second GPU a GTX 770 Sc along with the GTX 970 Sc and Premiere saw it immediately.  Congratulations again to Adobe on this great improvement for Premiere.

How do you set up your editing machine in terms of disks for maximum performance and reliability? (SSD's are left out here.)This is a question that often arises and all too often one sees that initial settings are really suboptimal. These rules are intended to help you decide how to setup your disks to get the best response times. Of course the only disks in an editing machine must be 7200 RPM types or faster. No GREEN disks at all.Rule 1: NEVER partition a disk. You may ask why? First of all, it does not increase disk space, it just allocates the space differently. However, the major drawback is that for a partitioned disk the OS must first access a partition table at the beginning of the disk for all accesses to the disk, thus requiring the heads to move to the beginning of the disk, then when it has gotten the partition info move to the designated area on the disk and perform the requested action. I have recently had a new high spec edit PC built. It comes with 4 drives as follows:Drive 1 - 250Gb SSD currently the root drive. This drive is dual boot partitioned with a 50/50 split of the 250Gb. On one partition is Windows 7, on the other Windows 10. We recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (clean install), added two SSD drives (one as a system drive, one for Adobe cache, etc.), and the system has a 10TB RAID for media.  The system is a dual proc Xeon machine.  We also upgraded from the Quatro 4000 to the M5000 (properly connected and supplied with the additional power required, latest drivers installed).  The problem is that I notice no difference in the slugish performance I see in Premiere and in rendering.  I've attached a screen capture that shows almost no GPU usage and the render of a 24 second clip taking nearly an hour with long gaps between frames in which the computer seems to do nothing.  And why is CPU utilization so hight?  There are a few effects applied to the footage, mainly MagicBullet Denoiser II as well as some Grad filters. Raw footage is BMCC DNG image sequence.  I understand that Denoiser II is slow, but I'm not understanding why it is so slow on such an expensive s

I am trying to purchase a PC laptop to use with Creative Cloud - mostly to use Photoshop with basic photo editing; Indesign, Illustrator and Acrobat.  I don't do any 3-d work or crazy intensive graphics.  Between Nvidia and Adobe I can not get a clear answer as to what I need as far as a graphic card - I was told 'they are different cards for different purposes' which doesn't really help... I am very frustrated .  I need to know whether I can use an Nvidia GTX (gaming) card or if I have to upgrade to the Quadro line. The low end/cheaper Quadro cards (k620 or m1100) are more expensive and slower than the Geforce 975M (or higher) cards, but I don't know if there is something the Quadro cards have that the gaming GTX cards do not have that I may need to do my work.  Can anyone explain the real world differences between the Quadro and Geforce cards in understandable terms?  I read something about Open GL and also about the system not being able to switch to the mem

I'm ordering a new Mac Pro for editing 4K footage and I have the following CPU options available to choose from: 3.5GHz 6-core with 12MB of L3 cache, 3.0GHz 8-core with 25MB of L3 cache2.7GHz 12-core with 30MB of L3 cache.  I don't want to order one with a slower clock speed if Premiere Pro doesn't utilize 12 cores, or even 8 cores.  I guess there's a trade off between clock speed and processing cores and I'm trying to find the sweet spot.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi, I need to build a new POWERFUL video editing machine for After Effects/Premiere and could need some input as I am low on time.The machine must be really fast in video editing/rendering, and I will be working both 1920x1080, 3840x2160 (24p) and 4K x 4K resolution projects.
