Our public access station is looking to invest in a new editing work station. A large amount of the videos we edit are long-form multicam edits, usually lasting an hour or more and featuring 2-3 cameras. We are shooting in 1080p 60fps maximum, usually AVCHD or AVC mp4s. Our current set up seems to struggle the most with these types of long-form projects, so I want to make sure we put money into the right components to help these projects run as smooth as possible. Based on my analysis, the CPU seems to be the thing that gets hit hardest with these projects, so I already know that will be a big component to consider. What is considered the current top of the line CPU for video editing and rendering with Adobe? Intel or AMD? Is an i9 worth the price increase for this kind of work, or is a top of the line i7 just as good? What impact, if any, will a GPU have? Does a high end GPU like a RTX 2080Ti have a big impact on editing over say a 2060? How much of an impact does drive speed have? Wi

Hello,I recently bought a notebook for me which has an integrated GPU AMD Radeon R7 M440 on it. The problem is that I cannot select the Open CL option for rendering with my GPU on adobe premiere pro or encoder. I know that Adobe recently blocked some GPU cards for this function, cause they are too old. But here is the deal: thats not the case for AMD Radeon R7 M445 (4GB). On my point of view Its not an obsolete GPU. Why my GPU card is not on the list? Its because there is an incompatibility going on or there is another kind of problem going on, like it hasnt be tested and aproved yet by Adobe?Thanks

Hi everyone! I have recently realized that my laptop is just not enough to work in After Effects. I am mostly working on motion graphics with a max length of 60 seconds (usually 15-30sec videos) and as you can imagine Macbook Air 15' is just not working that well.. or at all. My budget is between 1500 - 1800$ if it can be in the lower range I would be really happy. So far from what I have researched I know I should be looking for CPU (speed over quantity of cores), supported/dedicated GPU, and preferably two RAMs so I can store cache on separate RAM. Rather than picking on my own, I would like to get recommendation from an expert community so I am coming to you for help, thank you in advance!

Hi all!  I am wanting to upgrade my PC, currently, my PC has this in terms of hardware:   CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K @ 3.50GHz  RAM: 16.0GB Graphic:  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 I was thinking about updating the CPU to a Intel® Core™ i9-9900K and adding 16Gb of Ram. Hi I am new to Premier Pro and have just upgraded my PC to have a NewGeforce RTX2080 SUPERIntel MSI Z490 - Pro Mother board with 32GB RAM and 1TB M2 Drive and 500GB SSD SATA CORE i7-10700 2.90/4.80GHz 16MB Cache LGA 1200 10th Gen CPU 8 Cores/ 16 ThreadsWindows 10 Pro 64bitNVIDIA Studio Driver Version 452.06 relased 18/8/2020My issue is that some of my project Export no problems but others make the whole PC blue screen of death. Now the only comparison I have so far is my 1080p  project appears to work but my 4k one chrashes. Is there anyone who can help, or know how I log a support case with Adobe? Thanks

Hi. The way my set up is, I have one SSD that runs at 500 mbps and one that runs at 1050 (Samsung T5 & T7). What would be the best way to delegate these for use with Premiere Pro and after effects? I currently have my media files being read from a USB 3 HDD with my cache and exports going to the 500 mbps SSD. I was recently able to add the faster 1050 SSD. What's the best use of it? Does it even make sense to have it since everything else will be bottlenecked?

I'm currentl using MSI GL65 Leopard 10SCXR 15.6" 120Hz Gaming Laptop i& 16GB 512GB GTX1650 W10H. I only bought this on the 31/07/2020 however I'm experiencing issues with playback in Premiere pro. I've setup proxies and made quality to the lowest I could (1/8) and toggled proxies. It will play about half videos and then freeze on playback mid video. I'm not too sure why this is happening... If I could get some advice this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. I am about to try my first "Production" set up, with a new PC, so I am setting up PP and PS for the first time on these drives. And I want to get the Scratch Disks optimized. First, Premiere Pro: The official instructions for PremPro say to use a different harddisk for the Scratch Disk and suggest having seperate folders for Video Capture, Video Preview, Audio Capture, Audio Preview, Media Cache, DVD Encoding. Is that correct? Is that the preferred way to set that up, those subfolders inside a Premiere Pro Scratch Disk folder? Photoshop: But the official instructions for Photoshop says using the SSD of the main harddrive for the Scratch Disk is preferred over using a non-SSD harddrive. This, despite Support Community posts saying the opposte (e.g. SSD's have limited write capability, alwasy better to have the Scratch Disk on a seperate drive, etc.) Any advice would be appreciated. Hello!So, i had the GTX 750 Ti 2GB and i upgraded to RX 580 8GB XFX. I tested in Premiere Pro CC 2019 my new GPU. But the playback is so much slow than before and i dont know why. After Effects is working well, but in Premiere is terrible.I already selected the "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL)".My specs:RX 580 8GB XFXRyzen 5 160016GB RAMAny suggestions? Hi This could be a pretty dumb question. My Apologies. I am a beginner. I make 1080p 24fps videos with footages (Some I shoot and some taken from Web) and a lot of animations (especially data/statistical) done in After Effects. My computer (Asus Rogstrix G731 - Laptop) isn't that powerful - i5 9300AH, 24 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1650 4 GB and a Single SSD for everything (OS, Adobe suite and Media). I use Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator and Audition for my work. There is a lot of back and forth between Premiere Pro and After Effects (occassionally with Illustrator too) using dynamic link. My system is struggling a lot during this and often, the After effects and Premiere Pro keeps crashing. As I couldn't afford a new PC right now, I am planing to upgrade my laptop with the following:Increase the RAM to 32 GB from 24 GB (There are 2 slots inside, 1 with 8 GB and other with 16 GB). So basically, every time I launch or playback a video in premiere or after effects my pc bluescreens. The blue screen error is DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations to help me fix this problem? Thanks!Heres some diagnostic info for the problem. Hello, I'm about to buy the 2020 iMac 27 inch, 3.8GHZ intel core i7 processor, 8GB RAM (will upgrade to 64GB), and wanted to know if there is much difference with graphics cards Radeon Pro 5700 xt vs Radeon Pro 5700 when it comes to rendering and exporting in Premiere?  There seems to be a big jump in quality from the base model to the 5700 xt but not so much to the 5700.  Would appreciate some input. Thanks! 

I was searching for tips to improving video editing performance (Premiere Pro and After Effects) on the internet. I came across these two videos which are quite unique out there. I kept searching blogs and  youtube for some backing up for this but couldn't find any.  But out of desperation, I went and did this anyway. According to my personal experience, I couldn't find much difference in performance. If anything, AE and PP was crashing more often. Although this could be because of multitude of factors as I was nearing completion for this video with a lot of graphics. So, with my limited technical knowledge, I can't blame it on tweaking these settings. So, I am posting it here. Please shed light on this. It would not only help me but many other beginners like me with mediocre PC trying to improve performance. Thanks  

I upgraded to Threadripper 2 - 2920x (12/24)ASUS X399-A / 16GB ddr4CPU utilization never gets above 45% during encoding. Encoding a 39 minute video from 2 cameras (1 is 4K, the other is HD) down to MPEG-DVD.After 45 minutes, it still estimates 1 hour 25 minutes on a 2 pass encode. This is crap for a program that is supposed to be multi threaded. A 6 core, 12 thread intel processor can do a similar encode in 20 minutes.Is it time to switch to a better video program? Is Adobe making PPro CC even more useless?[Moderator note: moved to appropriate forum.]

Hi, I was wondering if an HP pavilion laptop 15t with 16gb and core i7 would work well with after effects. Im not planning on using the laptop for anything other than video editing, so I'd like to know if this is a suitable choice.
