In the past, I have applied a preset, made adjustments, and then afterward decided I wanted to compare it to a different preset so I would then hover over a different preset on the left side and see what the image would look like with that preset instead. Clicking on the new preset would apply only the information from that one and would override any previous adjustments made with the prior preset. now when i edit and click on a new preset it overlays the new preset on top of the old edits so I essentially have to reset the image every time I want to apply new edits. This isn't help when I have made adjustments to the alignment and lens corrections that aren't associated with the presets. Is this a setting that I may have turned off? Is there a way to see the details of each preset? It appears to do it on all now even the adobe ones.

I have an image I want to adjust the darkness for in photoshop. I do this often in LR by using selective edits to select the area and then adjust the exposure etc. I can't seem to do something similar in PS. The burn tool is difficult to use in this scenario because i can't see what I am selecting and applying more burn on top of the other just increases the burn. I know i could make a selection with the lasso but is there a way to this with a brush?

Thanks for the reply, this one of the first discussions I started looking at to try and solve. I actually think I may have realized that the profiles do not work for my camera as i am using a Nikon d3400 now and not the D3300 and there isn't a profile to match. I'm not great at understanding lightroom so this is not something I thought about...

I have the download old VSCO desktop presets from a few years ago that are no longer available. After a few updates to LR the profiles no longer appeared on the right side and when selecting the preset on the left, it would give and error saying 'profile missing' I have read a lot of help online and nothing seems to work. I go to add the profile manually as the profile file is located in the correct location (i think) and lightroom looks as if its adding in the profile. I don't get an error message it just never shows up in the profile list. I have tried with other profiles and presets and do not have the same problem. On presets, I can download the preset and the profile is automatically downloaded with it if applicable. Any ideas?

I am baffled. I have this drawing that looks correct when opened in AI and pdf but every time it prints the top left most arrow doesn't fill correctly. I've checked the parameters and the fill is set correctly within the program. I've tried using color dropper to match the other arrow that I would like to be the same and when that did not work I literally deleted and created an entirely new arrow and it still does not print correctly. Any ideas? I have had things in the past where random lines will show up or objects will not print at all even though it is obviously there. But never this. Here is the screenshot of pdf on screen and the image taken with my phone of the print. *Bottom Arrow should be darker than the top two.

I have several hundred random photos within my catalog on lightroom. In the past I have just deleted the images from ligthroom that I no longer needed after editing them and exporting them, so i had the exported images but no longer the lightroom information on the edit of the raw image. Is there a way to save the catalog and clear out the program with a fresh start but still have it access these previously uploaded files should I need to reopen and edit them again in the future?

Yes that would have been helpful! Okay here are two examples of the images. They are primarily black/gray lines on white but I don't think the lines are isolated by themselves. They are scans saved as TIFFS.

I have tiff files for a job I am doing and they are scanned drawings. I would like to change the line color to red instead of black or grayscale that some appear as presently. Is there a way to do this to a tif file that is already saved out.

I am making a portfolio of work and I have had issues in the past with the way the file should be set up to prevent it from being massive in size. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the correct way of assembling an indesign document with lots of images/files without overloading on the size. My document will be upwards of 30 pages with lots of linked images and pdfs that in themselves already have lots of information and layers from illustrator. I have duplicated and placed these links in a separate folder to prevent embedding them from slowing down the program. Ill be sending this file via email so i want it to be 15-30 mb but still have pretty good quality as its showcasing my work. In the past this file has been like 700-800 mb!! and reducing it in acrobat only gets it down to 200 mb which is still huge. What can i do in the early stages to make it pretty small??

Thanks for the replies. I knew going to the preferences would tell me where it is only it doesn't show the entirety of the location so it isn't that helpful. I followed the guides for that folder locations above but mine doesn't seem to be in that order. when I go to the library i have a folder labeled "caches" but not cache and nothing shows if i search for the names in the finder. This caches folder doesn't have any sort of file in it related to "Adobe InDesign" Alternately, I have done this in the past but not recently so it may have changed.

I work primarily on indesign and illustrator. Occasionally I have the auto save set to 5 min in AI and periodically it will crash... the only problem, I cant seem to find where the recovery files are stored on the computer. The indication doesn't list the whole part of the location and it doesn't give a total indication about on the web either? Any help?!

I have all my adobe software on my computer. I recently cancelled my subscription as it is now provided for me with my school. Will i have to redownload the app and will it delete my files? It is open on my computer and says it is the last time i will be able to open it as I have not added new log in credentials. I also have downloaded lots of fonts from the adobe fonts/typekit that I received notification for the uninstall of those fonts. Is there a way to see which fonts were downloaded? it seems they not only unactivated but were removed from my fonts list.

im not sure what you mean but check the window menu. Basically after appearing to open nothing pops up on the screen it is essentially the indesign interface without the tabbed window. So just the tool bars along the edge. Unfortunately all my backups are the same file. So if you aren't supposed to embed the images whats the best way to keep all the links. Before I even knew embedding he images was a thing i would just leave them linked only to come later and find the links are missing after moving to another location on my computer or other system.

I have an indesign file containing my protfolio at about 2.8 gb. I have had numerous other files that were significantly larger yet never had any problems other than lag every now and then. I worked on this file several times on and off and had no problem reopening to save and come back later. I now am trying to open it and it just won't open. I have searched online and can't seem to find and answer. The file selects and looks as if it is opening the bar comes up on the screen showing "opening document" and then the lock file disappears from my desktop but nothing opens. There isn't any errors or corruption messages, it just won't open even though it looks like it will. Any advice?

I have a pdf document that has a table of contents on the left hand side. When opened in Acrobat it scrolls through the table of contents changing the page title from the table of contents with the page on the right hand side. It stays on the single page and simply scrolls through the table of contents thus changing the single page. (When opened as a regular Pdf file it just scrolls through each page as normal pdfs would.) How can you create a pdf document like this? I can't attach the file but it is the media kit from this website. I have lightroom on my MacBook pro with the creative cloud. I have been using it for a while and after updating to lightroom 7.3 I apply a preset to a raw image as I have done previously and now get the error "profile missing" with an exclamation point next to the profile tab. It is a preset that I have bought online. Not all the presets have the error but each one gives a different missing profile name. I'm not that familiar with the profile tab in lightroom. Any ideas with what this means and how i can fix it?

I have a series of photos that i have imbedded into my file. I would like to crop them all into the same size. is there a way to do this without have to click on each one and crop it separately. They are all stacked on top of each when they were imported.

I created a relatively basic movie from a series of clips in iMovie. The clips are back to back with the clip audio muted and an audio track playing in the background. I am aware that iMovie runs a different format than premiere but i would like to use premiere for where iMovie falls short, in the video editing aspect. I have adobe but have never used premiere before only several of the other apps. I would like to apply presets and do adjustments to the visuals of the clips. is it possible to put the specific pieces of the clips already selected from imovie into premiere without having to manually import every event and reselect each section?
