I would probably convert the file to greyscale in Photoshop. Or, depending on your workflow, work media-neutral in RGB in your layout programme and convert to CMYK when outputting the print file with Device Link Profile.

Depending on how your scans look - do you have already tried the integrated function Menu: File -> Automate -> Crop and straighten photos?

@jane-e is absolutely right. Technically speaking, all the colour patches visible in your screenshot show the same colour value. The ‘perceived deviations’ are therefore more likely to be an optical illusion.

Double-click your gradient. Because in my opinion you are using a black 100% opacity to black 0% opacity gradient. That gives exactly this result.

Hi @Trevor.Dennis, I think you have the right assumption. 'Show transformation values' could actually be what the op is looking for.

Maybe it's just a translation problem. Maybe I just misunderstood your question.
If your question is: Which of the two images is more suitable (instead of correct), then I would favour image 1 for a skater (background blurred). For a person running, your last image shown is a common variant.

From a physical point of view - yes. That is also wrong. Nevertheless, this is one of the most common ways to digitally display a motion blur effect. And because we have seen it so often by now and are therefore ‘used to it’, it seems right to us.

However, this does not apply to the skater. She doesn't rotate. 😉

The blur effect is incorrectly applied in the second image. It is physically impossible for a single moving object to move at different speeds. Therefore it is also impossible to clearly recognise parts of the face etc.

Maybe a better way (instead of pulling your hair out): Show what you want to cut, upload a sample file to a hoster of your choice and post the link.
There is a very good chance that you will be helped.

Do you already know which colours you want to eliminate (this is probably the most difficult part)? After all, your image should only contain black and white elements.

Bounding box must be switched on. Otherwise transforming will not work. Can be found in the menu: View

Thank you for the screenshot. Unfortunately, your screenshot is not informative enough. Which selection tool is active? Which elements are selected (layer panel). The bounding box is probably also hidden at the moment. But unfortunately you can't tell from the incomplete screenshot.
