Just come here looking for this. Can't believe it's still missing in Audition in 2025. I just want to skim through a waveform at double speed without it affecting pitch. Of course you can do this by adding an effect but it should be built in like it is with newer editiors such as Hindenburg.

Just to say I've started working on a new project in the latest version of Prem Pro and am getting the dreaded glitches at nearly every edit point on my timeline while playing back (not exported anything yet but presume they'll be there too having read a lot of the posts here). Working with 4K footage shot on Sony cameras using MXF files. Clearing media cache etc hasn't helped. AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 128 GB RAM RTX 3080 GPU Win 11 Pro

Many thanks for taking the time to reply Matt. That makes sense, thanks for the explanation. Honestly though, as someone who spends a lot of time in PP but rarely uses it for transcriptions/captioning, I find this side of things incredibly unintuitive. The UI really needs to make it more obvious when it comes to these different sorts of transcripts. "Generate Static Transcript" for example isn't exactly obvious what it's for. I hit a button that said something like "Create Transcript" and then I was expecting to find all the usual split segment etc options there. Might be miles out on this but I'd have thought a decent percentage of PP users were at the more professional end of the spectrum and wouldn't have so much use for text-based editing so I'm not sure why it's the default mode. God I hate using PP for captions. So I'm halfway through editing the transcription of a 30-minute video with two speakers. PP won't let me split the segments so I can separate the speakers in certain points. It would appear I should have hit "Create Static Transcript" first. If that's the case, why the hell was I able to create a transcript using a different method? If I now hit "Create Static Transcript" it will re-transcribe everything and undo the hours or work I've put in so far. Why is this not far more intuitive? Why was I given the option to create a transcription that isn't fully editable? Is there any way I can rescue this? In related news, I usually do all my captioning with Veed.io because unlike PP it can actually generate decent animated text for social. Really winds me up spending ££££ each year on a Creative Cloud sub yet I still have to pay more to do stuff that should be built into PP. Rant ends.

It was an isolated case tbh but it flagged up the limitations of PP's caption importing. I'd made a 30-minute video for a client who then decided they wanted it captioned. As they were already at the top of their budget, I generated an srt from the auto-transcript and asked them to edit it, then I'd take the edited srt and make the captions. Minimal effort on my part and minimal cost to them. Because Prem Pro insisted on weird formatting like using 4 lines per caption, I ended up uploading the srt to VEED.IO and it threw out perfectly formatted, animated captions in 5 mins.

That's interesting Stan, thanks for commenting. Must admit I don't know much about the different captioning file formats. It's just every time I try and do captioning in Prem Pro, I always end up using different software because I find the whole process so frustrating!

When uploading .srt files to Prem Pro, there are no options for specifying the number of lines for captions. In fact, the formatting is an absolute mess. Because the video I was working on is over 30 mins, there was no way I was going to manually reformat the text in the Text window, so I've ended up doing it all in VEED.IO It's so annoying that despite all the money I pay in Creative Cloud subs each month, I still have to take out another subscription with another company because Prem Pro isn't fit for purpose when it comes to captioning. Grrr. Moan ends.

UPDATE I can resolve the issue by creating a new folder in the effected Library, and then deleting it. After this, all the saved colors reappear.

In one of my Libraries, the saved colors don't show in AE Libraries panel, only other assets like graphics. In all other apps, the colors show. I've tried clearing the filters, changing the grouping etc. but no joy. The colors were originally added in Illustrator. It's sporadic. Happens for a while and then they mysteriously reappear. Latest version of AE Win 11 128GB RAM AMD 5950x RTX 3080

Thanks for this. I was also having this issue and it turned out Google Earth Studio was exporting at 30fps but AE was interpreting it as 25fps which meant the movement was off. Your helpful suggestion solved the issue.

I've got over 250 VST plugins but there's no way to search for them in Audition by typing in their name. Instead, I have to go through a series of submenus and remember which company made the plugin and which category/folder they've added it to. Would be so much quicker and easier to just type e.g. "1176" and it would bring up some of those compressors etc.

Hi Nishu, As I rely on After Effects for my work, I can't start uninstalling plugins during projects so for the time being I'll need to put up with the issue and then do some investigating between jobs. Many thanks, Rob

Thanks for the reply Nishu. I've done what you suggested. When I create a new project from scratch, the problem persists. However, when I create a new project in Safe Mode and disable 3rd party plugins, the problem goes away. So it looks like I will have to uninstall plugins until the offending one goes...

Since the latest After Effects update, when I try to add/adjust a layer's effect, it opens a random comp. Here's an example - I'm trying to add CC Toner to an icon. Every time I try, it opens a different comp. Is this a known issue? Newest version of AE, Win 11, AMD 5950x 128GB RAM RTX3080

Hi John, Thanks for taking the time to explain. I'll give it a go tomorrow but I'm sure what you're suggesting about the empty group will work. For some reason I've always gone through the menu for creating shape layers rather than the toolbar - not sure why, but I've been doing it for so long now I find it hard to switch! I should point out that when I create a shape layer via the menu, it is after I then add, for example, a rectangle and fill, there is still nothing in the Properties panel.

When I create a shape layer by double-clicking the toolbar icon, I can access the expected controls in the Properties panel (pic 1)
But when I create one using the menu, I only get access to the main transform controls in the Properties panel, not things like fill or stroke etc (pic 2)
I asked someone to test it on their machine and everything worked as expected, so it's something in my system that's causing the problem. Does anyone else have this issue? Win 11 PC - AMD 5950x - RTX 3080 - 128 GB RAM

Yes, same here. Long load times and worse is how slow AE is now at doing the most basic tasks like twirling down the arrow to access shape layer properties etc. It's really annoying.

Totally agree. I presumed we'd be able to do very basic things like changing the fill of a shape layer in the properties panel. As it stands it's not particularly useful.

Been using Prem Pro for around 7 years and presumed there was a quick way to reorder tracks and I'd just forgotten it. This is what frustrates me sometimes about Adobe - they're too concerned with adding new bells and whistles to apps when in reality most users would prefer them absolutely nailing the basics that we'd use day in day out i.e. reordering tracks in PP or spellcheck in After Effects etc. I will say though, the auto-captioning function that's recently come to PP is a brilliant timesaver.

Every other stock site lets you favorite items. It means your selections are available on any device you log in with. The method you suggest only saves to the local drive of the one you're on at the time.
