Are the images being stored on the camera memory card? If I recall correctly, you can choose whether to have the image on the card or computer, but not both. warmly/j

I have run across this with a damaged camera card. Experience has taught me that even though reformatting the card might fix the problem for now that it is best to replace the card. Try a different card to see whether the issue persists. warmly/j

Due to the sheer volume of raw files I work on, all of my files are stored on external drives. That said, I run multiple backup systems to ensure everything is safe. With modern SSD drives, I doubt you'll see any performance issues. warmly/j

Albeit just a couple of years old, this sounds like a graphics card situation. The newer software versions are written to utilize graphic cards for more and more functions. This works great on the latest gear, it can cause slowdowns on machines that are just a few years old. warmly/j
