After hours dealing with this nonsense. The solution was to reset Camera Raw Preferences. For anyone else unfamiliar: Edit / Preferences and hit Ctrl (in windows) as you click on Camera Raw Hey Adobe! You still suck!

Been at this past week with no troubles at all. Now all of a sudden Photoshop V25.5 refuses to open NEF or RW2 raw files. Regardless of whether I'm trying from Bridge 11.1.3.200 or dragging in the file or using the Open dialog. Trying to do anything like that causes it to just freeze. Possibly related? Spent most of yesterday playing with its generative fill AI and I'd left a file open all night that was a big enough one. My other versions of photoshop weren't behaving either so I removed them all and reinstalled the latest one. Also updated whatever I could and still can't get anywhere. Any suggestions?? btw, using Windows 11 a machine that's powerful enough.

Okay, so I started out with "Dave Hill HDR Effect on Astonauts on the Moon" Not that I figured it'd know anything about Dave Hill since on Chat GPT and other Image generators I needed to nudge them along. But I get a violation warning for that. Okay, the name. I get it. Their AI's a bit stupid at the moment since it's a matter of using a particular sort of effect which MIGHT be named after a person and not my impugning anyone. I then go with HDR effect on Astronauts Battling on the moon. Violation Warning for "Battling" Then I go on with HDR Effect on this and that. Okay fine. Then, HDR effect on Soldiers. Another Violation warning. I imagine for "Soldiers" Really?????

UPDATE: Just updated Photoshop and Camera Raw to the latest versions and my God! FINALLY! Photoshop is as perky as I'd like and expect but raw files are almost instantaneously revealing their icon previews. And I've got tons! Not just that. My computer's sped up as well. Don't know if it's a fluke related to the time of day I'm on here or if Adobe's actually been slowing me down all this time. Not that my PC was slow to begin with but now it's super perky as well. FINALLY! Original Post: Adobe's been a thorn in my side for years now. And no matter what improvements I make with my system, everything else benefits except for Photoshop. It just barely gets better. Watched one fella's vid review of the RTX 4090 mentioning how he saw null improvements w/ Photoshop. Myself, had the 3090 for a couple weeks and I did see a tiny improvement but that's it. Right now I've the 3070ti waiting to upgrade and I'm not betting on any major differences when I do finally settle on a better GPU. Having upgraded to the Ryzen 5950x and 128 gigs of Ram made no differences either. And I've an eye on my resource use almost constantly.

Just in case you weren't aware: If you're like me, someone who works solely with raws, then there's a way to open them up without the hassle. From within Bridge, Shift + Doubleclicking on a raw file will open it in Photoshop without Camera Raw. Of course that kinda defeats the purpose of having a raw I guess. Surely we shouldn't have to be resorting to any sorts of measures if Adobe actually had their act together. 😞

Yes, I am. 'and do you get that white (Camera Raw?) dialog box after? Each time you either choose to be done or cancel your editing within Camera Raw. It's all annoying. Mind you, I too have Topaz plugins and refuse to remove them to start over and test since it was such a huge pain getting my plugins working in the first place. MAYBE one day when I'm in the mood and I've the time then I'll try that. Also, this all happens regardless of whether I'm opening a raw file or opening up Camera Raw during my work on any image.

Uhuh, I figured as much. I've a RTX 3070ti / 64 GB Ram / Ryzen 5950x if that matters. BUT, I'd suppose that's likely not something easily answerable unless I check with others who've got the same specs.

Update: Just rebooted my computer and it's now at/ 10 seconds without all the extra hassles I was experiencing. Huge difference. Is 10 secs what it should be? For me, it's okay I guess considering that they're raw files. Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks for the feedback. Opening still takes just as long. Althouh, hitting cancel does now close it out immediately (as it should be). Also, there's no quirkiness now. Previously I'd get some odd screen or two related to Camera Raw. Also, I'm still getting (which I didn't mention previously) this little dialogue box stating: "Some AI masks are missing and need to be updated"

Blows my mind how much of a pain this now is and has been for quite some time now. Can't say if this applies solely to 14.3 or if it goes back farther; since I've been dealing more with videos over the past couple years or so.
But Jeez!
I've a very powerful PC with RTX 3070ti / 64 GB Ram / Ryzen 5950x and fast SD drives. YET, this crap blows.
Takes 29 seconds to open up a (nikon) NEF file or (panasonic) RW2 file. If I hit cancel thereafter? Another 9 seconds wasted. Pathetic.
I've tried numerous different approaches and it's always the same. Mind numblingly frustrating.

Within the very same online chat, went through three reps last night and each a repeat of the previous one. That is, speaking as if I really was set to renew in December 2021. Ultimately, each time, they'd come around and admit that yes. I'm actually due to renew this Spring and not at the end of the year. Amazing what one has to go through. In the end, they made me all sorts of offers. I settled for a major downgrade of my account at a discount which I could live with. Such things should never be that hard.

I had a CC subsription which began in April 2019 At the end of the year I received a free year due to my having reached a level of contribution at Adobe Stock. My clear understanding was that any active subscription which a person might have would be placed on hold through the term of their free year of CC. I'm grateful for that free year, really I am. But I'm now done with Adobe. I DO NOT want to have to deal with it anymore or pay for it anymore. My free year ended in December 2020. They began charging me full price and not the discounted price I had previously had. That's fine. Okay. I won't fight that. BUT, they then went ahead and renewed me for a full year. I had someone at Adobe confirm that month (Dece 2020) that my active subscription would end soon in 2021. Now here I am going through major muck with another representative and getting nowhere. Did I mention that they're deceitful thieves!???

Been going through this now for well over a year now. Only return to it every quarter when I need to deal with my taxes. So here I am wasting minutes which turn in to hours trying to figure out a fix. Bad enough that Creative Cloud's taking an eternity to uninstall it right now. Any solutions? Some files open up and others end up crashing the app with no warnings. Some of these new files were created based on old ones which open up with no problem. Already trying getting Adobe's attention through other means. 'and about ready to reinstall the program again.

Hi, still a relative neubie with Premiere. Multi-fold question here. I've got these 4k MP4 10 bit files which I know are at and about 150 Mbps. In dealing with the export settings I see the following: When exporting as H.264 For Preset 'High Quality 2160p 4k' I get Target as: 80 Mbps and Max: 96 Mbps Why not 150? Is it up to me to then change the bitrate within the settings below that to a target befitting that which I believe the original to be at? 'Use Maximum Render Quality' I see mention at one online source that I may benefit from this if: ""Your source media has a higher bit depth than the format you are outputting to"" Soooo, considering how unsure I am about the target bitrate I should be using...IF I know that the original source' bitrate was about 150 Mbps and I target for say, 100 or 125. Is it highly recommended I check this one off? I ask the above for the sake of rendering the highest quality for stock footage but at the same time, being able to keep down the rendering times. Thanks humbly in advance.

Of the specific tool you mentioned, yes, I got it twice from two different Adobe URLs and had tried numerous times Not to mention making use of the Adobe uninstaller and the Adobe Limited Access Repair tool. Unbelievable how much crap one has to go through in a lifetime with this company! I've spent literally thousands of dollars over the years and it seems like I need to go through some nonsense like this once or twice every year. My Dreamweaver CS5 WAS working previously, up until shy of a month ago when I begin getting the alert telling me that I've got so many days left in my trial. I've repeatedly gone down the deactivate, uninstall and reinstall process using both the windows Programs Uninstall method as well as Creative Cloud App method...as well as making use of the Adobe cleaner tool. Still no progress. Mind you, my login credentials will work at each instance of the install but then NOT work after I try to run the program. Is it too much to ask of a supposed technically advanced company like this one to offer up software sans problems? Is it!???
